Determined Sophomores Dominate in Durham

With hard work, diverse talent, and the refusal to give up, an outstanding group of Sophomores left spectators at East Chapel Hill HS impressed last Saturday.
Gardner HS star Juwan Moye was the primer player at the combine, taking home the Overall MVP. The 5'7.5 154 lb RB had a 32.5 inch vertical, 9'9 broad jump, ran a 4.49 40 and was tremendous during 1 on 1's. With the ability to change direction on the dime, nimble feet and a good understanding of the game, Moye has a bright future.
Kameron Knight (West Johnson) was a knight in shining armor. At 6'0 175, Knight  had a 9'0 broad jump, ran a 4.59 40, was agile, strong and impressed during 1 on 1's. Knight looks like a big time run stopper and was an easy choice for LB MVP.
At 6'1.5 308, Casey Perry (Hillside) is a larger than life figure. Oh, how can I forget, he can flat out play football! Perry won the OL MVP after holding steady during 1 on 1 drills and bench pressing 185 lbs 20 times. Jacob Ingle (Walter M. Williams) shared the award with him and also has herculean strength. Scaling in at 6'2 274, Ingle had a surprisingly good broad jump (8'3) and bench pressed 185 lbs 31 times in addition to excelling during the 1 on 1's.
Marquis Gorham (JH Rose) rose to the occasion during 1 on 1's. He ball hawked throughout the session, had a 30 inch vertical, 9'2 broad jump and bench pressed 155 lbs 22 times. Between his athleticism and shut down ability, the 5'7.5 160 lb Gorham earned the DB MVP.
Demetrius Fairley can run, jump and cut across the field. An athletic 5'10 184 lb RB, Fairley had an 8'3 broad jump, ran a  4.42 shuttle, 4.52 40, bench pressed 155 lbs 18 times and really turned his game up a notch during the individual period. In taking home the RB MVP, Fairley proved that he can play with the big boys.
Between the aforementioned athletes and numerous other talented prospects, Durham's sophomore class is one that should be followed closely.
