Sherman Ragland (Southern Durham) was the Overall MVP MVP. The 6'0.5 184 lb receiver had tremendous athleticism (9'7 broad jump, 4.25 shuttle, 4.50 40) and was a monster during 1 on 1's. Ragland had great hands, ran terrific routes and always wanted to make the big plays.
Guiding every Sherman Ragland of the world is a Garrett Leathem. While few players that stand under center are 6'4.5 211, Leather is your prototypical gun slinging QB. Leathem, the QB MVP, has a big arm, moves well and is a born leader. We really liked what we saw from Leatham.
Curtus Struyk (West Carteret) is 6'0 269 lbs of mean. In winning the OL MVP, Struyk bench pressed 185 lbs 20 times and had great technique during the 1 on1's, impressively holding down the opposing linemen.
Darren Kirby (Wake Forest) doesn't have the size or strength of most kids his age, but this 5'5.5 144 lb mini machine has undeniable talent. Kirby smothered receivers during 1 on 1's, had an 8'11 broad jump, ran a 4.38 shuttle, 4.49 40 and has tremendous determination. Kirby deservingly won the DB MVP.
From the freshman to the rising seniors, Durham's 2010 combine class was one to remember.
