Dwight Campbell of C.F. Jordan HS topped a terrific Freshman session last Saturday at East Chapel Hill HS. Campbell is a bit short for a defensive linemen, but simply put, he has the skills to pay the bills. At 5'8 231, Campbell was a monster during 1 on 1's, giving the OL fits during 1 on 1's, and bench pressed 135 lbs 36 times en route to claiming the Overall MVP trophy.
William Cockman (Cockman) is a truly one of a kind Freshman. Don't believe me? Good luck finding not only a 6'5.5 350 lb player in his first year of high school, but any person his age that size! Cockman has terrific strength and completely dominated during the individual period. Simply put, how can other youngsters match up with this monster?
Xavier "X-Factor" Smith (Wake Forest-Rolesville) is exactly that to a defense. The 6'0 165 lb Smith is a major ball hawk with solid leaping ability and changes direction well. Smith deservingly brought home the DB MVP.
Demetrius Wilkins of Middle Creek HS has good size for a freshman wideout (6'2 182) and understands how to play the game. In winning the WR MVP, Wilkins ran nice routes, made a number of nice catches and worked his tail off. This is what garners attention.
Khris Francis (Hillside) is one of the most gifted frosh running backs we have seen. Powerful at 5'8 168, he had a 31.5 inch vertical, bench pressed 135 lbs 23 times, jumped 8'6 on the broad, ran a 4.26 shuttle and starred during 1 on 1's.
Durham, NC really has some nice prospects.
