The Detroit area will be rockin' this weekend when the NUC hits East China Stadium for the first time in history. The city itself has hit many hard knocks economically, but exceptional local athletes help make the future that much brighter.
Local prospect Montrel Robinson was amongst the NUC's top wideouts from all of last year. The 6'0 192 lb standout will lace up for top rated Cincinnati this fall and has the potential to go even further than that. Also topping the combine were standouts such as Christian Pletta, Dontavias Bryant, Tremondae Branch and colossal lineman Robert McFadden.
"Detroit always has some nice prospects and that region always manages to produce D1 bound athletes" said NUC CEO & President David Schuman. "There was a terrific group of underclassmen that have only improved since last year and i am excited to see what the Motor City's best has to offer."
Current 8th/9th graders are slated to compete at 8 am and sophomores are scheduled to hit the field at 1 pm on Saturday, while juniors go for glory this Sunday at 1 pm.
All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions. In addition to the elite athletes receiving coverage on Rivals and Espn.com, statistics of every participant will be sent out to colleges at all three levels.
With football's rapid rise in popularity nationwide, the competition is only going to be tougher. The coaches will closely evaluate the 600+ athletes expected to attend and work them to the max. The only question is; will you be ready for the NUC?
Athletes can sign up for the Detroit combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.
