Coach Schuman: What did you do to prepare for the National Underclassmen Combine?
Evan Harvey: A lot of take offs for my forty. Also I did a lot of power cleans and benching to help my explosiveness and to increase my reps on the bench press.
Coach Schuman: Have you been to the NUC before? How did you do? What were your expectations going into this year's event?
Evan Harvey: A lot of take offs for my forty. Also I did a lot of power cleans and benching to help my explosiveness and to increase my reps on the bench press.
Coach Schuman: Have you been to the NUC before? How did you do? What were your expectations going into this year's event?
Evan Harvey: No I haven’t been to a NUC combine. I thought I did pretty well, though I know I can do a lot more reps on bench press. I believed I could be pretty successful coming into the event. I thought if I just stay focused throughout the day I could do very well.
Coach Schuman: You were MVP! What are your goals now?
Coach Schuman: You were MVP! What are your goals now?
Evan Harvey: Go to the Ultimate 100 and just play hard and show what I can do! Make sure I keep my head on right and just keep working hard because as a freshman this is just one of the many steps.
Coach Schuman: How did you hear about the National Underclassmen Combine and what was your favorite part about the event?
Coach Schuman: How did you hear about the National Underclassmen Combine and what was your favorite part about the event?
Evan Harvey: I was just looking at combines a year ago and this one caught my eye so I just always wanted to go to it. My favorite was the one on ones. I felt like I did very well with them. I was running good routes and getting off the line pretty good.
Coach Schuman: If you can choose 5 schools where you would be interested in playing what would they be?
Coach Schuman: If you can choose 5 schools where you would be interested in playing what would they be?
Evan Harvey: I always wanted to go to Notre Dame, but 4 other schools are USC, Miami , Florida and Penn State .
Coach Schuman: What do you like about high school football? What are your goals for your team and yourself?
Evan Harvey: I like the harder competition and that it’s about winning not just fun, because I am very competitive! We won states this year so I hope to repeat. I would like to start next year on varsity. We have a two tight end set and I think it could be a pretty good opportunity if I get to start.
Coach Schuman: Do you play other sports? Tell me about your accomplishments?
Coach Schuman: Do you play other sports? Tell me about your accomplishments?
Evan Harvey: I was playing baseball but it truly got in the way of playing football. I really wanted to lift and get stronger but playing baseball wasn’t going to help me with that. I was one of 6 freshman to play for the JV team and also was the defensive captain playing middle linebacker. Up until my freshman year I played Pop Warner football and won several MVP awards. Outside football I won the district science fair.
Coach Schuman: What is your favorite thing about football? What makes it a great sport to you?
Evan Harvey: My favorite thing about football is hitting. It is so competitive, everything in a play counts. Whether it’s a pancake block on the other side of the field, every hit means something in a game. When you hit someone it makes them think twice about doing something and that can intimidate an opponent. I am the type of player, if you hit me, you better be watching your back the rest of the game, because I’m coming for you.
Coach Schuman: Tell me about your training regimen...How do you get better every day?
Coach Schuman: Tell me about your training regimen...How do you get better every day?
Evan Harvey: I have football workouts after school, but I always put more work in once I get home. I believe you do get better doing the stuff the coaches tell you to do but, there is thousands of kids working out for their coaches also. If there doing the same amount of work as me I have to take the extra step, god given talent can only go so far. So I put work in on my own time, I run a lot, do pushups and stuff like that. Also I work on my hands and routes running and catching in the street with my friends to get better.
Coach Schuman: What are you looking for in a college? Academically? football?
Evan Harvey: I would like to get a free education. Also I want to get to the highest level in football I can. I just don’t want to waste any of my ability and push myself to the max. I don’t want to have any regrets, I want to be the most successful that I can be.
