Lincoln, NE's inaugural combine is set for this Saturday at Southwest HS and was many years in the works; understandably so. Football is a way of life to many locals, with the dream of lacing up for the Cornhuskers being one that is shared amongst high schoolers statewide.
"Nebraskans have a tremendous amount of pride for their football program", said NUC CEO & President David Schuman. "In most states we visit, the athletes want to go to various schools around the nation, but kids in Lincoln want to play for the Cornhuskers since there is a ton of local pride."
Those attending the combine with dreams of playing at the next level will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions. In addition to the elite athletes receiving coverage on Rivals and Espn.com, statistics of every participant will be sent out to colleges at all three levels.
8-10th graders will have their opportunity to shine 8 am this Saturday, while rising seniors hit the field at1 pm that very same day.
"Lincoln's talent is no joke and the University of Nebraska's local recruiting is an a perfect example of how some of the best players can come from the smallest regions."
Athletes can sign up for the Lincoln combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.
