Jody Fuller (Sun Valley ) was the most noteworthy performer of the combine, taking home the Overall MVP award. The 6’0 196 lb wideout had exceptional skills during 1 on 1’s a 10’0 broad jump, ran a 4.26 shuttle, 4.52 40 and bench pressed 155 lbs 26 times. He is definitely the total package between his stunning athleticism and impressive abilities as a football player.
Eddie “Shut Down” Gordon (Bailing Springs) did exactly that to the defensive linemen during the 1 on 1’s en route to claiming the OL MVP. The 6’2 310 lb monster had great power and was virtually impossible to move.
Austin Duke (Independence ) was unquestionably the second best receiver around. In winning the WR MVP, Duke had a 30 inch vertical, 9’0 broad jump, ran a 4.45 shuttle, made a number of nice plays and displayed good hands. At 5’8.5 130, the talent is there, but his lack of strength is a concern.
Jadaririus Williams (Sun Valley ) and Darius Ramset (Burns) shared the running back MVP honors. Both men had terrific athleticism, stood out during 1 on 1’s and changed direction well.
Andrew “Mr. Consistency” Goodman (Mallard Creek) wasn’t overly fancy with the way he threw the football, but he knew how to get the job done. The 6’2.5 191 Goodman had an 8’9 broad jump, ran a 4.26 shuttle, was a leader on the football field and displayed an uncanny ability to get the ball into his receivers’ hands during 1 on 1’s.
Jermaine Lewis (West Forsyth ) is lacking size at 5’5.5 134, but boy does this kid know how to play football! He was physical during 1 on 1’s, had Ed Reed like ball hawking skills, a 30 inch vertical, 8’6 broad jump, runs a 4.32 shuttle and 4.50 40, making him a runaway winner of the DB MVP.
There is definitely a lot to like here. Charlotte is quickly becoming a deeply talented region.
