The Best from Charlotte’s Junior Combine

·        Demetrius Kelly of Butler HS is an immensely talented 5’11.5 178 lb wide receiver and earned the Overall MVP award. Kelly has great hands, knows how to get open, and creates separation between himself and the DB. Athletically, he left few doubts about his ability after putting his 10’0 broad jump, 33 inch vertical and 4.30 shuttle on display. Kelly has all of the tools to make it big time.

·        Darien Jones (Wakefield) truly has one of a kind athleticism for a d-lineman. At 6’3 226, He had a 9’8 broad jump, runs a 4.53 shuttle and has explosive moves off of the line. Jones, the DL MVP, presented major problems for opposing linemen and has the potential to take it to the next level.

·        Eric Davidson (Grimsley) is a 5’9 193 lb power back. He runs with bad intentions, had an 8’5 broad jump, 4.49 shuttle run, good hands and solid footwork en route to winning the RB MVP. Teams seem to be falling in love with RB’s with Davidson’s build. Jamarcus Aiken (JL Mann) shared the award with him and is an athletic back with world class footwork.

·        DJ Bolden (Riverside) and Derek Battle (Providence) shared the DB MVP award. The dangerous duo each had better than a 30 inch vertical and 9’0 broad jump, had quick feet and exceptional coverage ability. Luckily for high schools in the surrounding area, the two don’t actually play on the same team.

·         Michael Fitzpatrick (Socastee) earned the QB MVP after displaying how to get the ball downfield during the 1 on 1’s. Fitzpatrick is patient, has nice mechanics and runs a 4.47 shuttle. This 5’11.5 161 lb standout has a higher football IQ than most players his age

·        Carson Smith defines what the term “pure athlete” means or in our terms, Combine King. The 6’2 208 lb linebacker had a 31.5 inch vertical, 9’10 broad jump and ran a sensational 4.15 shuttle. He has the size to play elsewhere and the athleticism of a pro.
