Johnston High School is the place to be for all 8-11th graders looking to take their game to the next level, when the National Underclassmen Combine makes their triumphant return to the Des Moines area.
All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions. In addition to the elite athletes receiving coverage on Rivals and Espn.com, statistics of every participant will be sent out to colleges at all three levels.
Even though the Des Moines camp is amongst the year's smallest, preceding superstars such as Austin Williams, Dylan Hansen, Sam Renk and Grant Riesberg proved that it isn't the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog; or in this case the lack of numbers doesn't hamper the amount of elite athletes to partake in the event.
"Few people honestly think about this combine in the scheme of things, but we had some terrific players participate last year", said David Schuman, NUC CEO & President. "These smaller events always manage to produce terrific players, so my coaches are treating this event no differently than one in Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles or Baltimore."
Current 8th/9th graders are slated to compete at 8 am, while sophomores and juniors lay it all on the line 1 pm this Saturday.
Athletes can sign up for the Des Moines combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.
