Interview with Jacksonville, NC Junior DB MVP Isaiah Johnson
Coach Schuman: What did you do to prepare for the National Underclassmen Combine?
Isaiah Johnson: To prepare for this combine i really worked hard in the weight room and on the field and stayed focused all week.
Coach Schuman: Have you been to the NUC before? How did you do? What were your expectations going into this years event?
Isaiah Johnson: Yes I've been to the combine for two years . At the last two combines i scored well but didn't get an award or invite. My expectations going in were to win an award an compete against the best an showcase my skills.
Coach Schuman: You were MVP! What are your goals now?
Isaiah Johnson: My goals now are to keep working hard and start to receive college offers. Also to receive more exposure from combines.
Coach Schuman: How did you hear about the National Underclassmen Combine and what was your favorite part about the event?
Isaiah Johnson: I heard about this combine from my friends that told me how good it was. My favorite part of the combine was receiving the award and meeting new friends.
Coach Schuman: If you can choose 5 schools where you would be interested in playing what would they be?
Isaiah Johnson: 1.North Carolina 2. LSU 3.Oklahoma 4.Virginia Tech 5.Duke
Coach Schuman: What do you like about high school football? What are your goals for your team and yourself?
Isaiah Johnson: I like the fact that I get to have fun on the field and get to compete at my best. My goals for my team is to win a state championship and for myself, being an all-region player and making all conference for the fourth year
Coach Schuman: Do you play other sports? Tell me about your accomplishments?
Isaiah Johnson: Yes i play varsity basketball and my accomplishments were receiving 1st team all conference and MVP.
Coach Schuman: What is your favorite thing about football? What makes it a great sport to you?
Isaiah Johnson: My favorite thing about football is winning and knowing i done my best on the field and what makes it a great sport to me is that it can help me become a better person in life and it teaches me more than just football.
Coach Schuman: Tell me about your training regimen...How do you get better every day?
Isaiah Johnson: I lift after school at football workouts Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I get better everyday by working to my full potential.
Coach Schuman: What are you looking for in a college? Academically? football?
Isaiah Johnson: In college I'm looking for a great education and a wonderful campus that i feel comfortable in. In football I'm looking for great coaches that will trust me and i can trust them and a team that loves to work.
