2014 Texas State Rankings
Texas is the premier state when it comes to producing DI talent. From 2008 to 2012 the Lone Star State has produced on average 361 DI players per year. That is 40 more than the next closest state Florida. And this year the trend looks to continue.
What really stands out about the 2014 Class are the number of quality defensive backs and linebackers. The initial NUC Texas Top 90 has 11 DB's/LB's in the Top20. Starting the year off number one is Tony Brown of Beaumont Ozen High School. Brown possesses the coveted size and speed that college coaches desire in a tall cover corner. Coming in the #2 spot is athletic linebacker Hoza Scott of La Porte High school. He has all the tools to become a difference maker on the gridiron.
KD Cannon of Mount Pleasant High school is one of the most productive receivers in Texas football history.  He comes in at number three after catching 26 touchdowns passes last year. He is followed by pass rushing specialist Derick Roberson of Brennan High School. This gridiron warrior spends more time in the backfield then running backs. Rounding out the top five is the ball hawking safety Edward Paris, Jr. of Mansfield Timberview.
The Lone Star State rankings will be updated two more times prior to signing day. This list will also expand to reflect the number of talented players that this state produces. We wish every prospect a successful senior season and good luck on the recruiting trail!
