2012 NUC FCS POLL
Week 3
We have a change at the top of the poll as last year's defending FCS Champs North Dakota State downed Colorado State 22 to 7. Montana State struggled with Drake thanks to turnovers and penalties causing them to drop to #2 in the NUC FCS Poll. Illinois State also makes a nice jump from #19 to #16 with their quality win over FBS Eastern Michigan. Central Arkansas jumps from #23 to #19 with a solid 42 to 20 win over Murray State.
The other two FCS schools that damaged the reputation of FBS programs are Sacramento State and Northern Arizona. The Hornets downed PAC12 member Colorado 30 to 28 and the Lumberjacks beat UNLV 17 to 14. This week's upset alert pits two teams from the Hawkeye State. Northern Iowa travels to Iowa City to take on the Hawkeyes. The Panthers almost upset Big10 member Wisconsin two weeks ago. Iowa has really struggled offensively this year barely beating Northern Illinois and then putting up a six spot in loss to Iowa State.
The NUC FCS matchup of the week pits #20 Stephen F. Austin traveling to Bozeman, Montana to take on the #2 Bobcats. The Lumberjacks could not hold onto the ball this past week turning it over ten times in 52 to 0 loss to SMU. The Bobcats also played sloppy turning the ball over three times while committing eight penalties for 70 yards in 34 to 24 win over Drake.
We again have Co-NUC FCS Players of the Week. Wynrick Smothers of Central Arkansas completed 31 of 41 passes for 358 yards and five scores in 42 to 20 win over Murray State. Marcus Hendrickson of North Dakota completed 16 of 25 passes for six scores in 45 to 37 win over Portland State.
