Awesome Athletes from Austin, TX!

·        Terrance Simon (Palestine HS) capped off a better than advertised combine last weekend at Huston Tillotson University. The 5'8 179 lb Simon had a 30 inch vertical, 9'2 broad jump, ran a 4.36 shuttle, 4.52 40 and played like a man possessed during the 1 on 1's. Simon had exceptional quickness, changes direction well, was strong as an ox and runs nice routes, making him the total package coming out of the backfield.

·        Devon Hocutt (C.E. Ellison) starred for the second consecutive year at the combine. The  powerful linebacker ran a 4.50 shuttle, bench pressed 185 lbs 24 times, was physical with good speed, nice strength and terrific on field awareness. Hocutt is headed to Texas Tech this fall and has the potential to standout at the next level.

·        David Cobb (Ellison) and Jarreth Rougeau (Alfred Barbe) shared the RB MVP award but had little else in common. At 5'11 208, Cobb is a powerful runner with great athleticism. He had an outstanding 35 inch vertical, 8'9 broad jump, ran a 4.29 shuttle, bench pressed 185 lbs 19 times and starred during the 1 on 1's. Cobb's athletic abilities and power will definitely make him a pain to take down. Undersized at 5'5 147, Rogeau relies on speed and movement to break free. Rogeau was light on his feet, ran good routes and had a 9'1 broad jump.

Standout Underclassmen

·        Superstar Sophomore Victor Irokansi of Hendrickson HS was head and shoulders above the competition. The 6'2 216 lb d-lineman had a 33 inch vertical, 10'4 broad jump, ran a 4.58 shuttle and bench pressed 185 lbs 21 times. Athletically, there are few lineman this good.

·        Andrew Billings (Waco) was the top performer of the freshman session. At 5'11.5 266, Billings has awesome strength (bench pressing 155 lbs 29 times), surprisingly quick feet and great hands. During the 1 on 1's, the opposing linemen had major problems containing him, as his all around skills proved to be too much for those standing  across the line.
