Mira Mesa HS' Shamone Fletcher was the talk of the town after thoroughly dominating the junior combine at Eastlake HS. The 5'8 145 lb receiver had a 34 inch vertical, 9'8 broad jump, ran a 4.39 shuttle, 4.45 40 and did everything imaginable during 1 on 1's. Although he needs to put on weight, Fletcher still domainted the individual period by running good routes, making a number of impressive grabs and changing direction like a pro. His performance earned him the Overall MVP, Combine King and Fastest Man awards.
Jon Sanchez (Vista Murrieta) has tremendous athleticism for a defensive lineman. The 6'3 231 lb prospect had a 32 inch vertical and 8'9 broad jump, which put him alongside very few players at his position. Sanchez also bench pressed 185 lbs 16 times and dominated during 1 on 1's, earning him the DL MVP along with Joseph McFadden (Vista).
Chris Fletcher (Eastlake) is the second star with that surname from this session to standout. The 5'9 176 lb Fletcher had a 9'3 broad jump, ran a 4.38 shuttle, 4.63 shuttle and neutralized the WR's during 1 on 1's en route to claiming the DB MVP award.
Peralta's 2012 outlook
Elsinore's Nolan Peralta has two more years of high school football left, but after winning the Overall MVP, he already has his sights set on the future. The 6'4 225 lb linebacker is physically mature for a 16 year old and knows how to play his position. Peralta is aggressive, has quick feet, cuts down any opportunity to hit the gap and has good downhill speed. If he continues to grow, there is a good chance he will be shifted to DE. Expect to hear more about him.
QB Brandon Rogers (Santiago) was tops at his position. The 6'1.5 186 lb standout runs a 4.54 shuttle, throws a good ball, has good feet and was consistent during the 1 on 1's.
Granite Hills' Victor Iosefa was another standout linebacker far too good to be overshadowed. The 5'9 198 lber had a 30.5 inch vertical, 8'2 broad jump ran a 4.46 shuttle, bench pressed 155 lbs 27 times and stood out during 1 on 1's.
The Best from the Frosh
Kyle Lewis (Serra) displayed excellent potential. The 5'10 164 lb wide receiver had a 9'0 broad jump, ran a 4.55 shuttle, bench pressed 135 lbs 15 times and was the best amongst the freshman during 1 on 1's. Lewis had good hands, got off the line quickly and ran good routes.
Marshawn Daniel (Orange Lutheran) is a gifted linebacker with leadership skills. He has a second to none work ethic, is vocal, never gives up and can flat out play the game. The 5'9 196 lb standout had an 8'5 broad jump, ran a 4.39 shuttle, bench pressed 135 lbs 23 times and was a man on a mission during the 1 on 1's.
