Dinuba High School will be the talk of the town this Saturday when current 8-11th graders lace their cleats up to partake in the National Underclassmen Combine and Showcase. Most of the Californians enter with an array of confidence, but only the best remain standing tall and garner an invite to the Ultimate 100 camp. The best of 2009 included Kingsburg's Tyler Bray (who will play for Tennessee this fall) and Dinuba's very own Angel Meraz. Both men earned their stripes amongst the elite at the very same location by dominating in the 1 on 1's as well as the testing portion.
"Fresno isn't as big as some of our other California camps but we never struggle to get good players" said David Schuman, the NUC's CEO & President. "Tyler Bray is going to one of the top schools in the nation and would have been amongst our best players regardless of which event he attended."
Current 8th-10th graders are slated to compete at 8 am, while juniors go for glory 1 pm this Saturday.
All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions. In addition to the elite athletes receiving coverage on Rivals and Espn.com, statistics of every participant will be sent out to colleges at all three levels.
Athletes can sign up for the Fresno combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.
