Zack Knickman Dallas Junior Award Winner Interview

Coach Schuman: What did you do to prepare for the National Underclassmen Combine?
Zack Knickman: With the combine coming up i knew I'd need to have good footwork and be able to catch the ball. I set many cone drills and compete with myself for hours at a time to better myself. For working on my hands i was out running routes an hour a day. I did alot of hard work in the gym as well.

Coach Schuman:Have you been to the NUC before? How did you do? What were your expectations going into this years event?
Zack Knickman: Yes. I was a freshman and I was a linebacker at 175 all around i had a great combine and made it too the ultimate 100 in Desoto Tx. My expectations were high for myself because I always try and push myself. I weighed in 190 as a RB did great on the shuttle, bench, vertical jump, and broad jump had an okay 40 but I know I can do better.

Coach Schuman: You were MVP! What are your goals now?
Zack Knickman: My goals for combines in the future is to better every event and work even harder during the one on ones.

Coach Schuman:How did you hear about the National Underclassmen Combine and what was your favorite part about the event?
Zack Knickman: I heard of it my freshman year from a good friend who was a year older than me, the combine is a great experience it's hard to say what my favorite part is but I'd have to say it's just being on that turf with all the other athlete's everyone giving there all on their testing, then on one on ones evan thogh we  all faught for the ball and wanted to be on top when the play ended we all remaine friends on that field.

Coach Schuman:If you can choose 5 schools where you would be interested in playing what would they be?
Zack Knickman: Oklahoma State, University of central Florida, Florida, TCU and university of New Mexico.

Coach Schuman:What do you like about high school football? What are your goals for your team and yourself?
Zack Knickman:  High School football is one of the biggest things in my life. I play running back and one of the best things is when I have the ball in my hands and every time I start running I don't stop my feet it feels so natural. My team goals are what every team wants its to work hard, train hard, practice hard and know it was all worth it when you're walking on the field for the State Championship.

Coach Schuman: Do you play other sports? Tell about your accomplishments?
Zack Knickman:  I participate in throwing in Shot put and discus in track as a junior I've been getting second or third place and I'm nationally ranked.

Coach Schuman:What is your favorite thing about football? what makes it a great sport to you?
Zack Knickman:  My favorite thing is the contact to be honest, the reason I think it's such a good sport is when you're on a team you learn so much about team work, effort, listening, you're not just focused on yourself because you have 30 or more guys that have the same dreams you do

Coach Schuman: Tell me about your training regimen...How do you get better every day?
Zack Knickman:  Star every day with a good breakfast. I'll go to the gym for 2 hours 6 days a week  each day working on a different group of body parts, I try to eat at least six meals a day because of the amount of running and working out I do. Stretch for an hour 4 days a week and then run with tires and cone drills 3 days a week then every Sunday go up to the track and run a mile

Coach Schuman: What are you looking for in college? Academically? football?
Zack Knickman:  Where ever I go to college whether is D3, D2, or D1 I have to play football it's just what I love to do but I want to really focus on academics because of how big it will affect my future.
