Sophomores Show Solid Potential in LA!
A star studded city showcased a number of future superstar football players last Saturday at Cathedral HS.
Chandler Scott of Etiwanda HS won the Overall MVP at last Saturday's combine but more importantly, captured the eyes of everyone in attendance. The 6'0.5 220 lb Scott was a beast during 1 on 1's, dismantling the competition, and ran a 4.50 40. His ability to close a gap was sensational and he is as tough as they come, undoubtedly making him a big time D1 prospect.
Ridegeview's Maurice Boyd won the Combine King and Fastest Man awards. He was a terrific athlete, with a 32.5 inch vertical, 9'3 broad jump, 4.48 shuttle and 4.56 40 in his arsenal. His quickness and leaping ability make him a dual threat as a running back. At 5;8 162, he can really make things happen on offense.
Taylor LaGrace (Arcadia) and Bryce Harper (Carter) shared the top WR honors. Harper had a tremendous 9'10 broad jump and ran a 4.59 40, while LaGrace's body control was truly second to none. Both players did a good job during 1 on 1's and are good options to throw the ball to.
Shannon Edwards, 5'9 160 (Ridgeview) was an elite DB who is a threat for a pick six at any given time. Edwards had a 31 inch vertical, 9'2 broad jump, ran a 4.62 shuttle and shut the WR's down during the individual period. Edwards is a top tier DB with a solid understand of how to play the game.
Tyler Ferguson, 6'2.5 169, threw a great ball during 1 on 1's and had terrific accuracy for a 16 year old. Ferguson, the QB MVP, did a good job of dropping back and has good tools, but needs to get stronger.
If you are a young football player looking to get recognized, LA is definitely the place to be!
