NUC Los Angeles Preview: NUC Los Angeles: Where Stars Are Born

NUC Los Angeles: Where Stars Are Born
Los Angeles has long been known its superstar appeal. Countless actors, athletes and other notable celebrities flock the City of Angels on a regular basis for various reasons. Although most of the upper echelon celebrities aren't easily accessible, the public can get their first peek at a number of future all-star football players this weekend at Cathedral HS.
This year's athletes are expected to compete at a high level after the 09' class was amongst the best. Kaiser HS' Anthony Brown won the RB MVP and is headed to national powerhouse USC in the fall. The 5'9 170 lb Brown can play multiple positions, had a 31.5 inch vertical, 9'8 broad jump, ran a 4.46 shuttle, 4.53 40, bench pressed 185 lbs 21 times and was a stud during 1 on 1's. If Brown continues to develop and stars at USC, I sure wouldn't be surprised to see him in the LA limelight.
UCLA bound Josh Shirley, also of Kaiser, is UCLA bound after taking back the Overall MVP in 09'. Shirley dominated the combine, wowing coaches in the 1 on 1 and putting up sensational stats. A 6'3 209 lb d-lineman, Shirley put up "Hollywood" type numbers, as his 32.5 inch vertical, 10'1 broad jump, 4.47 shuttle run and 4.57 40 were off the charts.
As a sophomore, Rancho Verde HS' Ryan Henderson put up ridiculous all around numbers en route to taking home the Overall MVP and Fastest Man. Henderson, a 5'10 161 lb running back had a 38 inch vertical, 10'7 broad jump, ran a 4.26 shuttle, 4.44 40, bench pressed 155 lbs 25 times and starred during 1 on 1's. Even though he is undersized, it would be ludicrous not to think an athlete like this could make it at the next level.
DeShawn Ramirez, 5'7 157, of Monrovia HS is a rising star who is likely to return in '10. Ramirez took home the Freshman MVP  and leads the group of future greats from a camp that was filled with them.
Considering LA is a major market loaded with tremendous players, NUC President and CEO Dave Schuman is ecstatic about returning.
"Los Angeles is one of the best combines we run, period", Schuman stated. "I am still in disbelief in what I saw last year with Anthony Brown, Ryan Henderson and Josh Shirley among many others. This gives me every reason to believe the 2010 camp will produce future NFL players".
Current 8th/9th graders are slated to compete at 8 am and sophomore are scheduled to hit the field at 1 pm on Saturday, while juniors take center stage 1 pm this  Sunday, February 28.
All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions.
Athletes can sign up for the Los Angeles combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.
