Alex with Coach Dowdy
Coach Schuman: What did you do to prepare for the National Underclassmen Combine?
Alex Litzen:To prepare for the National Underclassmen Combine I participated in basketball, lifted weights almost every day, and did speed and agility workouts 3 times a week.
Coach Schuman:Have you been to the NUC before? How did you do? What were your expectations going into this years event?
Alex Litzen:I participated in two combines in Minnesota and Colorado last year and participated in the Ultimate 100 Camp in Indianapolis. I received the Overall MVP award in Minnesota last year. Going into this year I expect to improve on every single event, especially speed.
Coach Schuman:You were MVP! What are your goals now?
Alex Litzen:My goals are to do well at the Ultimate 100 Camp and stand out there.
Coach Schuman:How did you hear about the National Underclassmen Combine and what was your favorite part about the event?
Alex Litzen:I heard about the National Underclassmen Combine from my football coach. My favorite part of this event is the competition and going up against the other kids in 1-on-1’s.
Coach Schuman:If you can choose 5 schools where you would be interested in playing what would they be?
Alex Litzen:I am interested in playing at any Division I-a or I-aa school but if I have to narrow it down to 5, I would say University of Nebraska, University of Colorado, University of Minnesota, University of Florida, or University of Iowa.
Coach Schuman:What do you like about high school football? What are your goals for your team and yourself?
Alex Litzen:The thing I like most about high school football is the intensity and competition of every game. The goals I want to achieve this year are to make my team better and be a leader. The obvious goal for my team is to play in the state championship.
Coach Schuman:Do you play other sports? Tell about your accomplishments?
Alex Litzen:I play basketball and do track and field in the off-season. My accomplishments in these sports are a letter and state meet qualifier in 2 events in track and field. I also played on a statewide AAU basketball team last summer.
Coach Schuman:What is your favorite thing about football? what makes it a great sport to you?
Alex Litzen:My favorite thing about football is the competition on every play and how there is always room to improve. This is a great sport because of the way it brings individual athletes together to form a team.
Coach Schuman:Tell me about your training regimen...How do you get better every day?
Alex Litzen:I have a very focused training regimen. My regular day of training is to go to basketball practice, do speed and agility in a class or running stairs, then weight lifting.
Coach Schuman:What are you looking for in college? Academically? football?
Alex Litzen:Academically I am looking for a school with a good engineering curriculum. For football I am looking for a team that is competitive in its division and has a strong passing attack.
