COLUMBIA SC 11th grade NUC Schuman’s Outstanding Performance List
Isaac Harris Dutch Fork HS, SC 11th OL #89	A man amongst boys at 6'7 254, Harris won the Overall MVP. Harris had an 8'1 broad jump, ran a 4.79 shuttle and was impossible to move during 1 on 1's. I can only imagine what it is like to line up against him.
Thomas Turnase Wando HS, SC 11th QB #41	Turnase took home the QB MVP. At 5'11.5 161, Turnase had a 9'1 broad jump, ran a 4.25 shuttle, threw a very good ball, great fundamentals and remained poised.
LaQuavas Watt Abbeville HS, SC 11th S #60	Watt was crowned Combine King after lighting up the stat sheet. Watt, 6'0.5 192, had a 32.5 inch vertical, 9'11 broad jump, ran a 4.24 shuttle and bench pressed 185 lbs 22 times.
Preston Gavins Stratford HS, SC 11th WR #47	Gavins, 6'0 152, was the WR MVP. Gavins had an 8'10 broad jump, ran a 4.42 shuttle and made some nice catches during the 1 on 1's.
Curtis Cannon Dutch Fork HS, SC 11th WR/TE #88	Cannon shot through the competition en route to winning the TE MVP. At 6'3 192, Cannon had a 33 inch vertical, 9'5 broad jump, rana  4.56 shuttle and had good hands.
Cameron Mahone El Dorado HS, AR 11th RB #51	Mahone won the RB MVP. Mahone had a 32 inch vertical, 8'8 broad jump, ran a 4.30 shuttle, bench pressed 185 lbs 22 times and displayed good footwork during the 1 on 1's. At 5'6 186, Mahone is a nice prospect.
Glen Hilliard TL Hanna HS, SC 11th CB #40	Hilliard was named DB MVP. The 6'0 173 lb Hilliard had a 29.5 inch vertical, 8'7 broad jump, ran a 4.48 shuttle and smothered the WR's during 1 on 1's.
Jordan Lester South Florence HS, SC 11th LB #71	Lester won the LB MVP and Leadership award after an admirable performance. The hard working Lester hustled non stop, had a 9'2 broad jump, bench pressed 185 lbs 17 times and was great during 1 on 1's. Simply put, he is a coach's dream.
Joseph Monts Dutch Fork HS, SC 11th DL #20	Monts, 6'0.5 185, walked away with bragging rights after being named DL MVP. His athleticism (8'11 broad jump, 4.52 shuttle) compensated for his lack of size. He has great footwork and quick hands.
Josh Metcalf Pork County HS, NC 11th FB #79	Metcalf was the Strongest Man award winner. The 5'9.5 218 lb fullback bench pressed 185 lbs 28 times and has the potential to be a big time blocker.
Traiah Campbell-Provo Dutch Fork HS, SC 11th WR #49	Campbell-Provo was the Fastest Man award winner. The 6'1 163 lb speed demon ran a  4.04 shuttle, 4.40 40, had a 2 inch vertical and 9'8 broad jump.

News and Notes from Little Rock's Morning Session!

It was the first time but certainly not the last Schuman's NUC graced the field in Arkansas. Little Rock was rockin' indeed last Saturday morning, with an impressive group of 8-10th graders leaving their blood, sweat and tears on the gridiron with the prospects of earning a scholarship to play at the next level.

Marquis Walker (Rison HS) was the top player of the session, winning the Sophomore Overall MVP. The 5'9.5 173 lb standout had a 34.5 inch vertical, 9'0 broad jump, ran a 4.57, bench pressed 155 lbs 20 times and put on a clinic during 1 on 1's. He definitely has a bright future in football.

"Marvelous" Marvell Harris (Little Rock Central) is a stud athlete and a gifted running back. With the ability to do it all at 5'7, Harris had a 35.5 inch vertical, 9'9 broad jump, ran a 4.36 shuttle, 4.54 40 and was the top RB during 1 on 1's. His outstanding day earned him the coveted Combine King and RB MVP awards.

Tysean Norris (Harding Academy) and Desmond Smith (Bentonsville) shared the WR MVP award but have a lot more in common than that. Both prospects had quick feet, good hands and caught the ball well.

Central HS' Brian Anderson is a powerful linebacker and won the LB MVP. At 5'9.5 228 lbs, Anderson bench pressed 155 lbs 24 times, ran a 4.55 shuttle and played physically during 1 on 1's.

Dillon Turner is only 5'4 123 lbs, but as an 8th Grader, he has plenty of time to develop. Talent wise, he has terrific mechanics, makes good decision and is light on his feet. A unanimous choice for the 8th grade MVP, Turner has a bright future.

Finally, Jemar Clark is a big body and a lineman who has to be respected. The 6'4.5 276 lb OL MVP pushed around the opposing linemen during 1 on 1's and proved that size does matter.

Arkansas has an abundance of talent and a return seems imminent.

Cody Robinson Des Arc HS, AR 11th S #15	Robinson, a gifted 6'0 192 lb safety, won the Overall MVP. Robinson had a 30 inch vertical, 9'8 broad jump, ran a 4.59 shuttle, 4.59 40 and dominated during 1 on 1's.
Jalen Jones Conway HS, AR 11th WR #74	Jones grabbed the WR MVP after displaying an array of skills at the combine. At 5'9 151, Jones had a 31 inch vertical, 8'11 broad jump, ran a 4.48 shuttle and had terrific hands.
John Miles El Dorado HS, AR 11th RB #82	Miles, 5'6.5 150, was crowned Combine King and also took home the RB MVP. Miles had a 33.5 inch vertical, 9'9 broad jump, ran a 4.25 shuttle, 4.50 40 and worked his tail off during 1 on 1's. This kid has a lot to offer.
BJ Slaughter Searcy HS, AR 11th WR #76	Slaughter it was when BJ was on the field. The co-WR MVP at 6'1 180, Slaughter had a 9'4 broad jump, ran a 4.26 shuttle, 4.50 40 and had great ball skills during 1 on 1's.
Darreal Mems J.A. Fair HS, AR 11th WR #75	Mems, 5'10 172, was also the co-WR MVP in this talented group. Mems had an 8'8 broad jump, ran a 4.51 shuttle and terrific routes during the individual period.
Trevor Maltbie Conway HS, AR 11th TE #72	Maltbie, 5'9.5 217, was the TE MVP. Maltbie ran a 4.49 shuttle, had great hands and was strong.
Tommy Jackson J.A. Fair HS, AR 11th OL #106	A monster of the midway at 6'2.5 336, Jackson was the OL MVP and Leadership Award winner. Jackson kept the rest of the combine participants pumped up, hustled throughout the day, bench pressed 185 lbs 19 times and put his skills on display during 1 on 1's.
Carlos Weaver Des Arc HS, AR 11th CB #17	Weaver weaved around the WR's to deflect a number of passes while causing frustrations for the offense. The 5'8 152 lb Weaver had a 9'1 broad jump and also ran a 4.50 shuttle en route to winning the DB MVP.
Hunter Moix Conway HS, AR 11th CB #20	Moix was the co-DB MVP. At 5'9.5, Moix had an 8'6 broad jump, ran a 4.19 shuttle and worked as if there was no tomorrow during 1 on 1's.
Alex Patterson Paris HS, AR 11th LB #46	Patterson, 5'10.5 199, was awarded LB MVP. Patterson was physical, had an 8'8 broad jump and consistently worked hard during 1 on 1's.
Sam Vincent Hampton HS, AR 11th DL #79	Vincent, a 5'10 223 lb powerhouse, won the Strongest Man award. Vincent bench pressed 185 lbs 22 times.
Justin Hollis Des Arc HS, AR 11th QB #34	Hollis took home the QB MVP. The 5'10.5 172 lb standout had a 9'2 broad jump, ran a 4.52 shuttle, 4.50 40, had a strong arm and was a leader. Hollis is a dual threat without a doubt.
Colby Taylor Beebe HS, AR 11th RB #69	Taylor brought home the Fastest Man award. The 5'9.5 154 lb Taylor ran a Speedy Gonazlez like 4.49 40, 4.34 shuttle and also had an 8'8 broad jump.

Desmond Smith Bentonville HS, AR 10th WR #42	Smith brought home the WR MVP. The 5'10 154 lb standout ran a 4.4 shuttle and had good hands, making a number of nice catches during the individual period.
Tysean Norris Harding Academy, TN 10th WR #37	Just like Chuck, Tysean Norris was seemingly on top of the world. The 6'0 175 lb prospect won the co-WR MVP after wowing coaches with his 32.5 inch vertical, 9'2 broad jump, 4.34 shuttle run and good hands. There are no jokes about this Norris!
Rickey Tappan Harding Academy, TN 10th S #22	Tappan, 5'7 162, took home the DB MVP. Tappan had an 8'5 broad jump, ran a 4.30 shuttle and performed well during the individual period.
Lionel Davis Westwood HS, TN 10th QB #42	Davis' day it was! At 6'0 232, Davis won the QB MVP after completing a number of nice passes during the 1 on 1's.
Jemar Clark McCroy HS, AR 10th OL #104	A giant at 6'4.5 276, Clark was the OL MVP winner. Clark used his size to his advantage, silencing the opposing linemen during the individual period.
Quinta Thomas Little Rock Catholic HS, AR 10th RB #13	Thomas was the Fastest Man award winner. A 5'9.5 175 lb speedster, Thomas ran a 4.37 shuttle, 4.53 40, had a 31.5 inch vertical, 9'0 broad jump and bench pressed 155 lbs 20 times. A star athlete indeed.
Brian Anderson Central HS, AR 10th LB #24	Anderson took home the LB MVP. A force at 5'9.5 228, Anderson had an 8'4 broad jump, ran a 4.55 shuttle, tossed up 155 lbs 24 times and did a terrific job during the individual period.
James Cranford Rison HS, AR 10th DL #51	Cranford was the Strongest Man award winner. At 5'9.5 224, Cranford bench pressed 185 lbs 24 times.
Darrell Doss Subiaco Academy, AR 10th RB #15	Doss was the Leadership Award winner. At 5'3.5 138, Doss hustled non stop throughout the combine, working as if there were no tomorrow.
Josh Morgan Searcy HS, AR 10th WR #47	The TE MVP at 5'11.5 196 Morgan had good hands and nice blocking ability.
Mason Guthrie Searcy HS, AR 10th LB #39	Guthrie, 5'8.5 184, was the strongest skill player. Guthrie bench pressed 155 lbs 33 times while also running a 4.52 shuttle.
Dillon Turner Salem HS, AR 10th QB #36	Turner, 5'4 123, won the 8th Grade MVP. Turner did a terrific job during the individual period, displaying impressive mechanics and decision making for an 8th grader.
Josh Bell Searcy HS, AR 10th QB #45	Bell took the Freshman QB MVP after ringing it up at the combine. The 5'7 163 lb ran a 4.46 40, had good technique and quick feet.
Brandon Cox Conway HS, AR 10th WR #52	Cox won the Freshman WR MVP and Fastest Man awards. At 5'5.5 145, Cox had an 8'4 broad jump, ran a  4.36 shuttle and performed at a high level during 1 on 1's.
Alec Ramirez Cabot MS, AR 8th DL #81	Ramirez, 5'7.5 244, was the Strongest Man. Ramirez bench pressed 135 lbs 32 times, giving him unprecedented strength for an 8th grader.

Rising Prospects looking to Rock n Roll in Nashville!

The city of Nashville has a rich history of musical talent. The Musicians Hall of Fame is located in this very city.  Most notable artists have passed through this city at one time or another. Even though lyrics and love songs are a big part of  life Nashville, touchdowns and tackle dummies are slated to take over Saturday at Glencliff HS.

Current 8th, 9th and 10th graders are slated to compete at 8 am, while Juniors put it all on the line 1 PM Saturday April 3. All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with  position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions.

Highly rated recruit Brady Earnhardt (Mount Juliet) was a 2009 standout, and will play for Army in the fall. The speedy Earnhardt (no not with a race car) jetted across the field en route to running  a 4.29 shuttle and 4.35 40. He also bench pressed 185 lbs 26 times and had a 35 inch vertical. A soldier indeed.

Arkansas State bound Bo Wallace, the Overall MVP, did a stellar job in 09'. The 6''4 182 lber had a 34 inch vertical, 8'9 broad jump, ran a 4.44 shuttle, bench pressed 185 lbs 19 times and put on a show during 1 on 1's.

Jordan Poole is another Nashville area recruit flooded with talent. The 6'1 220 lb linebacker is slated to hit the field for Southern Illinois this fall.

"From the music clubs to the football field, Nashville is very much one of my favorite trips", David Schuman, NUC CEO & President, said with a huge smile on his face. "There are always noteworthy D1 players here."

Athletes look for the path to success in Hampton Roads!

Southern VA's Bethel High School produced former NBA great Allen Iverson and may very well showcase a future football great this Saturday when the National Underclassmen Combine returns to the Hampton Roads area.

"Since the inaugural combine a few years back, Hampton Roads is yet to disappoint", said NUC CEO and President David Schuman. "The talent is good and the area is definitely one of America's most underappreciated talent wise."

Mammoth lineman Ali Scott of Churchland HS is heading to Norfalk State in the fall after taking home the Overall MVP just one year ago. The 6'4 330 lb monster dominated at the combine and has a bright future ahead of him.

Rated recruit Troy Ruediger (Cox) is a D1 prospect who has a number of schools interested in signing him as a late commit. The 6'2 194 lb pro style QB has a terrific arm and turned heads during the Combine.

Bayside HS' Lamar Jordan is also a D1 bound athlete with plenty of style on the football field. The 5'8 190 lb running back, who has interest from East Carolina, Oregon, Richmond, Virginia and VA Tech, runs a 4.5 40, 4.34 shuttle and has a 34 inch vertical.

Demetrious Nicholson's house is flooded with letters from schools inquiring about his services following his senior season in 2011. The Combine King and co-DB MVP, Nicholson had a 30 inch vertical, 9'8 broad jump, ran a 4.37 shuttle, 4.51 40 and was a lock down defender. The 5'11 175 lb sensation has offers from 15 D1 schools including Boston College, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Rutgers and Louisivlle among others.

Highly touted Gavin Williams (Kempsville) also graced the field at last year's event, dropping jaws with his all around dominant performance. Williams is a shut down DB with Olympic type athleticism, running a 4.4 40 as a sophomore in 09'.

Current 8th, 9th and 10th graders are slated to compete at 8 am, while Juniors will give it their all 1 PM Saturday April 3. All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with  position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions.

NUC Returns to Emmett HS This Saturday!

 It's nowhere near the biggest event of 2010. High school sports in Idaho and big time states such as Texas are far from comparable. Idahoans have many things on their agenda before football. While entertainment on gridiron isn't necessarily a pastime, the Boise combine isn't necessarily talent deprived.

Lawrence Perkins (Juneau Douglas) trekked all the way from Alaska to dominate the 09' junior session, taking home the Overall MVP and Fastest Man awards. The 6'0.5 201 lb star had a 30.5 inch vertical, 9'0 broad jump, ran a 4.48 shuttle and was in a league of his own during 1 on 1's.

Brady Swansen (Springville) was a terrific QB and nice athleticism. He had a 31 inch vertical, bench pressed 155 lbs 20 times and ran a 4.59 shuttle in addition to zipping the ball down field like a pro. Regardless of the competition, Swansen is a noteworthy QB.

Taylor Baker (Springuillo) had terrific athleticism and turned some serious heads last year. The 5'11 149 lb Baker had a 32 inch vertical, 8'7 broad jump, ran a 4.40 shuttle and did a top notch job during 1 on 1's. Baker, a current senior, will definitely be playing somewhere next year despite his lack of size.

"Boise is a small region, but the athletes have a large scale work ethic", said NUC CEO & President David Schuman. "It would be smart to keep an eye on this camp though since we had some good performers in the past and America's next great prospect can come from anywhere."

News Notes and Notables from Lexington Sophomore Combine

   

·        Reggie has been out of the NBA for years, but Miller Time is back and better than ever! A return standout, Vinnie Miller of Henry Clay HS won the Overall MVP. Miller had a 31.5 inch vertical, 9'0 broad jump, ran a 4.32 shuttle and was a monster during 1 on 1's. The talented wideout had great explosiveness, ran perfect routes, had great ball skills and soft hands.

·        Austin Osborne (Wellston) brought home the DB MVP award after a terrific day at the combine. Osborne locked the WR's during the individual period, had nice foot work and quick hips. He also ran a 4.28 shuttle and had an 8'6 broad jump. Nice stuff all around from Osborne.

·        Jaylen Prater, a powerful 5'11 221 lb linebacker, was the top dog at his position. Prater had a 31 inch vertical, 9'3.5 broad jump, ran a 4.31 shuttle and bench pressed 155 lbs 28 times. During the 1 on 1's the Wellston HS standout smothered the RB's giving the QB's no chance to connect on a short pass.

·        Khalil Sturdauent (Hurricane) is undersized for a d-linemen, but was still the DL MVP. At 5'11 201, he may better suited to play linebacker , but regardless, he has the skills to pay the bills. Between his speed, quickness, strength, great jump off of the snap and consistent effort, Sturdauent is one to look out for.

·        On the opposite end of the ball was St Albans' Jackie Bruer, a 6'0.5 285 lb blocking machine and the OL MVP. Bruer solidified that size equals strength by bench pressing 185 lbs 19 times. He also had world class toughness and impressive feet for a player his size.

8-11th graders put it all on the line in Wilmington/Jacksonville, NC!

The Wilmington/Jacksonville combine was one of 2010's smallest, but considering North Carolina is quickly becoming a talent hotbed, the size of the fight in the dog was much larger than the dog itself.

Dominick Johnson of Panther Creek HS was the Freshman Overall MVP. During the 1 on 1's, Johnson wrecked havoc on the offense, using his good recovery speed and quick hands to bat down a number of passes. At 6'1 154, Johnson also had an 8'5 broad jump.

Steven Schaffel (Pasquotank County) used his size to his advantage during 1 on 1's, taking home the Sophomore OL MVP. Schaffel is 6'1 278 lbs of mean.

Chances are Chance Shepard (Eugene Ashley) is going to lead his team a long way. The 6'1.5 185 lb QB was the Sophomore Overall MVP and Leadership award winner. Shepard ran a 4.25 shuttle, threw a good ball, had a terrific release point and is a vocal leader. He definitely possesses the qualities of a top notch QB.

Christopher Bradshaw has terrific talent and is a dual threat running back. The 5'8.5 172 standout won the sophomore RB MVP after impressing with his 8'9 broad jump, 4.31 shuttle run, bench pressing 155 lbs 26 times and did a great job during 1 on 1's. He runs hard and has good hands, giving us little doubt that he has more than a serious ground game.

North Brunswick's Keilin Rayner, the Sophomore DL MVP and Strongest Man, is a bit light for a lineman, but has outstanding athleticism for a player at his position. At 6'2.5 210, Rayner Had an 8'10 broad jump, bench pressed 185 lbs 18 times, ran a 4.63 40 and used his slickness to his advantage during 1 on 1's. He is quick, explosive and has good hands. With a good weight program, Rayner is one to look out for.

Jevonte "King" Jones was the best sophomore athlete and the fastest man of the session. At 5'11 168, Jones had a 34 inch vertical, 10'8 broad jump and ran a 4.49 40 en route to winning the Combine King award. Jones has physical gifts that very few football players can claim.

Terrell Stanley (South Brunswick) was the DL MVP of the junior session. The 6'1 254 lb standout had an 8'6 broad jump, bench pressed 185 lbs 20 times and was a monster on the gridiron during 1 on 1's.  Stanley has solid strength and understands how to play the game.

Eugene Flowers sprung to life at the combine, winning the Junior LB MVP. The 6'0 212 lb Richmond HS star had a 31 inch vertical, 8'9 broad jump, ran a 4.51 shuttle and was consistent during 1 on 1's. As funny as it sounds, Flowers has the necessary tools to bloom into a star.

Interview with LB MVP/PHEMON ATHLETE Ty Hook

 

Coach Schuman: What did you do to prepare for the National Underclassmen Combine?

Ty Hook:  I had done a 9 week training course at Michael Johnson Performance Center in McKinney in addition to training at school.

Coach Schuman:Have you been to the NUC before? How did you do? What were your expectations going into this years event?

Ty Hook:  This was my first time.  I really wasn't sure what to expect.


Coach Schuman:You were MVP! What are your goals now?

Ty Hook:  I wasn't MVP, but I did receive Combine King and Strongest Man.  My goals are to improve on my numbers and be MVP.


Coach Schuman:How did you hear about the National Underclassmen Combine and what was your favorite part about the event?

Ty Hook:  One of my coaches and I had received a letter invitation.  My favorite part was the one on one's.


Coach Schuman:If you can choose 5 schools where you would be interested in playing what would they be?

Ty Hook:  I am interested in whoever is going to have me on the field.


Coach Schuman:What do you like about high school football? What are your goals for your team and yourself?

Ty Hook:  I like playing with the people I have grown up with.  We have all gotten stronger and bigger every year.  Goals for 2010 season is state championship and for myself improving on all the small things, to get more than 20 sacks, 35 TFL.


Coach Schuman:Do you play other sports? Tell about your accomplishments?

Ty Hook:  I played baseball up until this year when I decided to focus on off season training and track.

Coach Schuman:What is your favorite thing about football? what makes it a great sport to you?

Ty Hook:  The intensity.  If you really want to make a play, you can make a play.


Coach Schuman:Tell me about your training regimen...How do you get better every day?

Ty Hook:  Outside of pre-school workouts and football, there is about 2 hours a day of weight training along with flexibility and speed exercises.  I am adament about my diet.


Coach Schuman:What are you looking for in college? Academically? football?
Ty Hook:  Acadmeic reputation and a unique football program.

Adam Lane Winter Haven HS, FL 9th RB #35	Lane was insane on the football field, taking home the Overall MVP, Fastest and Strongest Man awards. Loaded with potential at 5'7 109, Lane had an 8'11 broad jump, ran a 4.48 40, bench pressed 135 lbs a Ronnie Coleman like 54 times and starred during 1 on 1's. Lane has great feed, tremendous hands and runs hard. You would be foolish not to keep an eye on this kid.
Leon McQuay Armwood HS, FL 9th DL #23	McQuay, a return star, took home the Leadership Award. The 6'0.5 175 lb McQuay hustled throughout the day, had a 9'3 broad jump, ran a 4.60 40 and starred during 1 on 1's. The fact that he was able to dominate as a freshman that competed with the sophomores is truly impeccable
Aaron Jenkins Jefferson HS, FL 9th WR #54	Jenkins, 6'2.5 190, won the WR MVP. Jekins had an 8'8 broad jump, had good feet, soft hands and used his size to his advantage during 1 on 1's.
Antwand Johnson Middletown HS, FL 9th RB #33	Johnson came up with the RB MVP after fighting hard throughout the day. The 5'6.5 141 lb Johnson had an 8'1 broad jump, a winning attitude and tremendous feet.
Drake Haff LRHS, FL 9th QB #48	Haff won the QB MVP after going all out at the combine. At 6'0 165, Haff had an 8'5 broad jump, great vision, a quick release, strong arm and played the position intelligently.
James Peek Liberty MS, FL 8th S #28	Peek, 5'8.5 138, was the 8th Grade MVP. Peek, who is still many years away from reaching his peak talent wise, had an 8'5 broad jump, ran a 4.43 shuttle, runs well, is very athletic, has smooth hips and was easy to coach.
Larry Soft Sebring HS, FL 9th DL #38	Soft was anything but what his surname says he is, taking home the DL MVP. At 5'8.5 145, Soft had very good technique, great hips and played hard throughout the 1 on 1's.
Harry Brown Largo HS, FL 9th LB #30	Brown, 5'9 177, won the LB MVP. Brown had an 8'5 broad jump, ran a 4.79 40, bench pressed 135 lbs 19 times and was physical during 1 on 1's.
Bo Farmer South Sumter HS, FL 9th S #54	Farmer was the DB MVP. At 5'8.5 142, Farmer had a 28.5 inch vertical and locked down the WR's during 1 on 1's.
Damion Hicks Gulf HS, FL 9th TE #88	Tall and thick at 6'1.5 262,  Hicks had surprising quickness for a player his size, was very physical and smart with a good football IQ. Hicks is a blocking machine.
Alex Gomez Peidmont Lakes HS, FL 8th QB #27	Alex Gomez took home the Combine King award. Gomez, 5'9.5 147, had a 31 inch vertical and 9'4 broad jump, making him a one of a kind athlete for an 8th grader.
