At 5'3 158 lbs, Forest Park HS' Cameron Boyd is notably smaller than virtually all high school football players regardless of grade and he knows it. Many have doubted him due to his lack of size, numerous others have looked past him, but after winning the Overall MVP, few can doubt his talent.
Boyd refused to let his physical disadvantages distract him, running a 4.33 shuttle while displaying excellent all around athleticism. During the 1 on 1's, Boyd created a buzz by showing good hands, terrific lateral quickness, and great all around 1 on 1 skills. Boyd's determination and inability to quit on himself make him a truly special player.
NUC regular Jimmy Boone (Oakton HS) won the QB MVP and Leadership awards following an outstanding day of football. Boone's position skills are second to none, as his strong arm, great reads and footwork made put him atop the food chain after five hours of football. The 5'11.5 173 lb prospect has interest from numerous D1 programs and is likely to end up at one in the near future.
Forest Park's Kenneth Harris and Central Dauphin based Bo Wilson were both dominant running backs, making it impossible to select just one for the MVP. The duo tested well (33 inch vertical, 8'9 broad jump, 4.22 shuttle for Wilson/31.5, 9' 4.43 for Harris) and were a cut above the competition during the 1 on 1's.
Carter's World
Briar Woods' Alex Carter topped an excellent sophomore session last Saturday at Oakton HS, taking home the Overall MVP/Fastest Man awards. With a 34 inch vertical, 9'5 broad jump, 4.43 shuttle, 4.42 40 and by bench pressing 155 lbs 25 times, Carter was virtually flawless from a testing standpoint. The 6'0 181 lb defensive back was in a league of his own during the testing, shutting down the WR's like a pro, while displaying great footwork and an excellent first step.
Romond Deolatch (Phoebus) has excellent size for a rising junior at 6'4.5 206, but better yet, the kid can really play the game. Deolatch has terrific speed for his size (4.49 shuttle) good leaping ability (9'0.5 broad jump) and uses his big frame to shield the ball from defenders. He has tremendous upside and should be a menace to defenses for years to come.
Bryton Barr (Mechanicsburg) is 5'11 200 lbs of mean. In winning the LB MVP, Barr ran a ridiculous 4.12 shuttle, had a 9'1 broad jump and bench pressed 155 lbs 26 times. He was a step above those around him during the 1 on 1's, using his size, strength, speed and power to shut out the RB's during the individual period. Barr's skills are definitely in place and he is one to look out for.
Burns proves to be a phenom Freshman
Stone Bridge HS QB Ryan Burns looks to be the total package at 6'4.5 208. He has outstanding size for a first year high schooler, throws a great ball, works harder than those around him, is a natural born leader and has a very high football IQ. Burns was simply sensational during the 1 on 1's, connecting on passes to his WR's with ease en route to winning the Overall MVP and Leadership awards. With his terrific all around combine performance, Burns displayed that he is going to be a prize prospect for years to come.
