San Antonio's finest football players will have the opportunity to showcase their talent before top notch evaluators this Saturday and Sunday at Somerset High School, where the National Underclassmen Combine will host their inaugural area combine this weekend.
Texas defines what a football hotbed is, with the sport receiving massive interest beginning at the high school level.
"As a whole, there is no state that loves football like Texas", said NUC President & CEO David Schuman, who ran instate camps in Dallas twice, Austin, West Texas and Houston. "The demand here is seemingly never ending so it was time to add another combine location.
The San Antonio area camp has no track record but should provide plenty of excitement. A solid number of athletes are expected to attend the event with hopes of making the Ultimate 100 Camp en route to potentially playing big time college football.
"Athletes are likely going to come from all across the lone star state for this one", said Schuman. "It should be a terrific event without a doubt and set the tone for many years of success in San Antonio."
All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions. In addition to the elite athletes receiving coverage on Rivals and Espn.com, statistics of every participant will be sent out to colleges at all three levels.
Current 8th/9th graders will compete at 8 am and sophomores are set to lay it all on the line at 1 pm on Saturday, while juniors look to make a statement this Sunday at 1 pm.
Athletes can sign up for the San Antonio combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.
