The National Underclassmen Combine: Breaking Grounds in Wichita

The National Underclassmen Combine will be making history this weekend when they hit Wichita, KS for the first time. Athletes from the Sunflower state will have an opportunity to showcase their skills at Northwest HS and hope to join the likes of other respect Kansas recruits.

Top rated wideout Ricki Herod Jr. is an NUC alumni headed to Kansas this fall. Herod, 6'2 175, hails from Texas, but decided to join the Kansas football movement with hopes of making it to the next level.

Blue Valley HS' Dylan Admire was the best in state star, making major waves last year at the Ultimate 100 camp.  The 6'3 264 lb will lace up for Nebraska this fall after graduating.

A number of Kansans also made their mark at the 2009 U100 camp including Mikey and Brandon Smith, Myles Copeland., Terrence Allen, George Brophy, Grant Ellis, Jacob Hurla, Jordon McCallister, Evan Oaks, Tyler Stubler and BJ Tremble.

“In addition to having a ton of locals attend various camps last year, both Kansas and K State recruited a number of in state prospects for their 2010 season”, said NUC CEO and President David Schuman. “This gives me every reason to believe that we will play host to a number of the recruits for 2011 and beyond."

Participants will showcase their athletic talents in the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run. In addition to the official combine testing, athletes partake in individual period, including drills, 1 on 1’s, 3 on 3’s, and other position oriented competitions.

The combine takes place this Saturday with 8th-10th  graders hitting the field at 8 am, while juniors have the chance to shine at 1 o’clock. Although the NUC doesn't have a track record in Kansas, things are looking bright heading in.

Athletes can sign up for the Wichita combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.
