From the cool tunes of rock n roll to the gridiron, Nashville is the place to be. Saturday afternoon's combine at Glencliff topped off a solid day filled with prospects that worked tirelessly with admirations of starring at the next level.
Randall Freeman (Ooltewah HS) won the Overall MVP award after posting ridiculous all around statistics. The 5'9 189 lb Freeman came darn near close to literally jumping off the charts with a 37.5 inch vertical and 10'7 broad jump to boot. He changes direction well, running a 4.18 shuttle, and also dominated the 1 on 1's. Between his athleticism, good feet, agility and all skills, Freeman's future looks bright.
Darius Turner (McGavock) and Marvin Berryhill (Sparkman) were two talented defensive backs that shared the DB MVP award. The duo had solid leaping ability, changed direction well and really applied the pressure during the individual period.
Charles Goins (Jefferson County) is a ridiculous athlete period. In winning the combine King and Fastest Man awards, Goins had a 33.5 inch vertical, 9'9 broad jump, jetted to a 4.17 shuttle, 4.47 40 and bench pressed 185 lbs 22 times. This is what you call statistical slaughter my friends.
At 6'2 295 and 6'4 264 respectively, Garret Wright (Murray) and Jose Valedon (Oak Ridge) shared the OL MVP. The monstrous duo displayed exactly what it means to man down the line during 1 on 1's, as their strength, size and fundamentals powered them to success.
Takudzwa Kubvoruno (Gull Lake) was far easier to assess as a player than refer to by first or last name. A talent loaded 5'10 175 lb prospect, Kubvoruno won the WR MVP and Leadership award following an impressive day at the combine. Kubvoruno has a terrific worth ethic, 31 inch vertical, 9'6 broad jump, runs a 4.55 shuttle, 4.54 40 and knows how to make big time grabs. Morris Williams (Hillsboro) also deserves props, as he shared the WR MVP award with Kubvoruno.
