Fabulous Freshman Steal the show in Hampton Roads

There are few freshman that can match up with Overall MVP Demetri McGill. The Ocean Lakes HS standout is 5'11.5 295 lbs of bulk and a major nightmare during 1 on 1's. McGill has awesome strength (bench pressing 155 lbs 26 times) and terrific fundamentals. His push, technique and massive size should make him a varsity star in no time.
Temeuchin "Bucky" Hodges (Salem) has a cool nickname, calm demeanor and terrific size for a QB. At 6'4.5 189, Hodges won the QB MVP after throwing a plethora of terrific passes during 1 on 1's, making smart choices with the ball and jumping 8'6 on the broad. Bucky and co-QB MVP Deion Stitt (a Bayside prospect who throws a great ball as well) both have potential.
Aaron Poore poured it on the defense during the 1 on 1's; fitting right? The 5'9 154 lb Poore has terrific hands. quick feet (running a 4.53 shuttle) put together some impressive routes, had an 8'9 broad jump and made a number of good grabs. I definitely like what I saw here.
Toddrie Bugg (Dinwiddle) Is 6'1.5 249 lbs of mean. Bugg, the DL MVP, has a tremendous drive, pushing hard throughout the 1 on 1's and applied pressure on the opposing linemen.
Justin Watson (Greenbrier MS) really showed us something, especially considering he is yet to hit high school. As an 8th grader, Watson had an 8'5 broad jump, ran an unbelievable 4.45 shuttle and battled throughout the 1 on 1's with the receivers. Watson was an easy choice for the 8th grade MVP. Can't wait to see more of what he has to offer down the road.
