Wells' Talents Top Columbus Combine!

Stebbins' Ian Wells was a cut above the competition last Sunday o  Chillicothe High School's football field. With an NBA-like 36.5 inch vertical, 10'5 broad jump, 4.09 shuttle run and 4.48 40, his athleticism was incomparable. From a position standpoint, forget about it! The D1 level d-back was light on his feet, had great jamming ability, broke up a number of passes and worked his tail off until the play was over. This is the kind of player you can tell is a superstar moments after seeing him compete.
Damond Powell (Rogers) was very much the anti-Wells. The 5'10.5 157 lb wideout had terrific hands, ran nice routes and made a great impression during 1 on 1's. Even when things may not have gone his way, he kept his head up and worked hard. Powell did a great job during testing as well. With a 31.5 inch vertical, 8'10 broad jump and 4.59 shuttle run en route to claiming the WR MVP and Leadership awards.
Adam Martin (Milton Union) is an athletic power style RB. During the testing, The 5'10.5 208 lb Martin bench pressed 185 lbs 32 times (making him the strongest position skill player), had an 8'11 broad jump and ran a 4.41 shuttle. During 1 on 1's, his footwork, agility and hands were tremendous, putting him atop the players at his position. There is plenty to like about this kid.
Lewis Leads class of 2012!
Overall MVP Pinkerington wide receiver Roger Lewis was the talk of the sophomore session. The 5'11 169 lb standout put the DB's in their shame during 1 on 1's, had great hands, ran terrific routes and managed to come up with the ball in traffic. From an athletic standpoint, he was right on the money with a 31 inch vertical, 8'5 broad jump and 4.66 40 in his stacked arsenal. Lewis is an excellent number one receiver and a born winner.
Cam Stanley (St. Francis) was a man amongst boys in the lineman group. The 6'3.5 256 lb rising junior was powerful, had great lower body movement, quick hands and world class technique. During the 1 on 1's, he neutralized the d-lineman and left a great impression for all those in attendance.
Billy "Action" Jackson (Fairborn) may have been the second best receiver of the combine, but he was easily amongst the elite overall performers. The 5'11.5 187 lb standout had exceptional hands, a great first off the line, great moves to shake the DB's and ran a 4.60 shuttle.
Quick Hits and Fast Rising Freshman
·        Zachary Yousey (Harvest Prep) capped the freshman combine with an Overall MVP winning performance. The 6'0 162 pound prospect had a 9'4 broad jump, ran a 4.34 shuttle, 4.76 40, had good hands, nice moves and was always willing to make the big plays. Few first year high schoolers have the all around talent and awareness of Yousey.

·        Malik Ziare (Kettering Archbishop) made the day for players like Yousey that much easier. The 5'10.5 177 lb QB has a quick release, timed his passes perfectly and displayed terrific mechanics for a youngster en route to winning the QB MVP. Ziare's attributes make him a player to watch out for

·        The honorary Rudy Award goes out to Trotwood Madison' James Winchester. At 5'4 .4 129, Winchester is small by any standards, but like the legendary Vince Lombardi said, it's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. Due to scheduling conflicts, Winchester elected to compete with the juniors and was nothing short of sensational. He ran a 4.58 shuttle, fought tooth and nail with the WR's during 1 on1's, while ball hawking like a pro. Regardless of how big he is or isn't, He is a special player.

·        Bad weather took Chillicothe HS by storm (pun intended), but the show must go on. The coaches brought the athletes indoors and some of the testing was done under makeshift conditions.
