(NUC) - In 2005, Tyrod Taylor, a young football star in Virginia attended the National Underclassmen Combine (NUC) and simply blew away the staff in attendance.
"He moved so quickly and threw the ball with such accuracy," said David Schuman, owner of NUC.

Taylor, then a quarterback at Hampton High School, led his team to a 34-4 record over three years as a starter and amassed over 7500 yards of offense with a 100 total touchdowns.

With those numbers, Taylor graduated as the No. 1 dual-threat QB in the country and chose to play for home state Virginia Tech.

While his God gifted talent helped him on his quest for stardom, it was the NUC combine back in 2005 that his father felt gave him a leg up on others.

"It was great for him to be recognized," said Taylor's dad. "It opened his eyes up to some of the best players in the country that he would have otherwise never competed against."

In fact Joe Haden, future star for the Cleveland Browns, attended that same combine.

"What is great about NUC is it gives you a chance to have recruiters see you early. That is a big blessing," said Taylor's dad.

Tyrod went on to a stellar career at VT, where he finished his final year as ACC player of the year and the ACC Championship Game MVP.

Today, Taylor's excellence continues to shine as the back up quarterback on the world champion Baltimore Ravens.

Can it all be traced back to 9th grade when he was recruited early at the nation's leading combine? You can be the judge on that. But for now, keep an eye on Tyrod Taylor as it seems this Raven has everything it takes to be an NFL star
