NUC High School Rankings
Week 12

Again, none of the NUC HS Top25 lost this past week. And those teams just outside the Top25 didn't lose either. For those fans that love to see upsets your time is coming soon. Several states are already in the state playoffs and this means tougher competition.

We have a few key matchups worth keeping tabs on this coming week. The #7 Butler (NC) Bulldogs (11-0) host their bitter rival Independence, NC (10-2) in the second round of the NCHSAA Class 4AA playoffs. This is a rematch from just two weeks ago that ended with the Bulldogs on top 33 to 14. It is never easy playing a team twice in one season. St. Edward, OH ranked #24 host the Mentor (OH) Cardinals (10-1) in a second round playoff game. The Cardinals only loss was to St. Ignatius, OH 48 to 21.

The #10 ranked Camden County (GA) Wildcats (9-0) fresh off their big win at Lowndes, GA again hit the road. This time they travel to Moultrie, GA to take on the Colquitt County Packers (6-3). On paper it may not look like much but the Packers knocked an undefeated Wildcat team out of the quarterfinals last year. This series is tied at four wins apiece and NUC National Analyst Barry Every will be on hand for the contest.

We have a defensive player as the NUC HS Top25 Player of the Week. Senior defensive back Lorenzo Fertitta, Jr. of Bishop Gorman, NV intercepted four passes in the Gaels 78 to 13 win over Shadow Ridge. Bishop Gorman now hosts Palo Verde, NV in the second round of the NIAA DI Sunset Region.
