Tottenville (NY) wide receiver Malique Belfort holds three offers at this time. Temple, Boston College, and Arizona State have all offered the talented receiver.
Belfort led his Tottenville team to a 10-2 record and a spot in the State Semifinals. At 6-3 and 170 pounds, Belfort has great height for a wide receiver. Belfort has the ability to go over the middle and make difficult catches. Belfort will make catches to keep the chains moving. As a possession receiver, he catches the football with his hands instead of his body. With his height and leaping ability, Belfort can go up and catch the ball in jump ball situations.

Steven Barsamian NUC: How are the offseason workouts going?
Malique Belfort: They are going well. I have been mostly focusing on my footwork and obviously adding weight and muscle in the weight room.
NUC: What do you think you need to improve on in the offseason for next season?
MB: One of my goals is to add about 20 pounds over the summer. I definitely want to work on my route running and getting in and out of my breaks quicker. Just being a bigger target for my quarterback.
NUC: What would you say your strengths are as a player?
MB: I have reliable hands. I am a good possession receiver. I think am able to elevate and catch passes over shorter defensive backs. Overall I am just a team leader.
NUC: What are thoughts on your ranking on the recruiting sites?
MB: Most sites rank me the number one receiver in the state. As of now I feel good about it.  But I'm going to keep getting better. That's why I keep going to camps and combines to show I can compete with some of the best DB's in the country.
NUC: What are your expectations for next season as a player and as a team?
MB: The last three years I have been playing on varsity. We lost in the semifinals of the State Playoffs all three years. So my goal for this season is to make it to the finals and win the state championship my senior year. Also, I want to maintain my grade point average of a 3.0 or a 3.5.
NUC: So how's the recruiting process been going?
MB: It's been going good.  I have been getting a lot letters. I have been getting letters from some SEC schools. A lot of coaches just want to evaluate me and see me in camp. I just went to the UCONN camp and I plan on going to West Virginia and the Penn St camps.
NUC: How did the UCONN camp go?
MB: It was good. I have a good relationship with their linebackers coach, coach Wholley. We text each other every now and then. We have a great relationship. Every time we talk it is about recruiting or sports. I also talk to the head coach, Coach Pasqualoni. We talk about a lot of things such as the receiving depth chart and the wide receiver commits. I also have a good relationship with their Quarterback Casey Cochran. He's a freshman there and he just graduated high school in Connecticut. We text from time to time. I also know a bunch of players from the area who have either committed there or have them in their top 5.
NUC: Which teams are showing the most interest at this point?
MB: I have been getting a lot of interest from West Virginia. I also have been receiving interest from Miami, Uconn, and Alabama. I  spoke to Alabama's offensive coordinator over the phone. I have also been talking to a couple of other Big East schools such as Syracuse.
NUC: Have any teams told you they were close to offering?
MB: Well I think the closest team to offering at this point besides Uconn would be Miami. I am going down there to camp.
NUC: Do you have any favorites or top schools at this point?
MB: Well originally I didn't have a top five. But if I had to make a top five right now I would say not in any order it would be: Arizona St, Uconn, Miami, West Virginia, and a tie between Alabama and Ole Miss.
NUC: Do you have any other camps you plan on going to?
MB: Well I'll be in Texas for Team USA's camp. After that I will go to a few more camps. I think I'm going to go to Florida and Virginia Tech.
NUC: Do you have a timetable for your decision?
MB: Well originally I wanted to make a decision during the summer, so I could focus on school and my season. But with all these new schools showing interest I think I am going to take my time and probably make my decision after the season but before signing day.
