Chaminade-Madonna Prep (FL) outside linebacker Richard Yeargin III has already picked three offers as a sophomore. Top schools like Clemson, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin have thrown their hat into the ring.
Yeargin recently switched positions from safety to outside linebacker for his Chaminade squad. Instincts and speed helped smooth Yeargin's transition to a new position. The position switch allowed Yeargin to excel with his raw athletic ability. At 6-3 and 200 pounds, Yeargin has that famous Florida speed and the great size that makes him a promising prospect.
Yeargin led his team to a 9-2 record and a spot in the Florida state playoffs.

Steven Barsamian NUC: How are the Offseason workouts and spring practices going?
Richard Yeargin III: Spring Practice ended well. We had an inter-squad spring game because we didn't play another team. We looked good in the spring game. There were a lot of colleges that came out to watch practice and the game. I had two tackles, 5 sacks, and two pass break ups in the spring game. My teammates did well also.
NUC: What would you say you need to improve on over the summer for next season?
RY: I want to improve on my size and add more mass. I would like to add 5-10 more pounds. I would also like to build a little bit more strength. I want to keep learning more about the game because of the position change I made from safety to linebacker. I would like to get a little more familiar with my position and try to get faster on my reads.
NUC: What would you say your strengths are as a player?
RY: My strengths are helping my teammates around me and getting them into the game. Another thing is my speed coming off the ball and to the point of attack. I feel I am pretty decent in coverage. I feel I can cover any position and my tackling is pretty solid also.
NUC: Who is your favorite musician?
RY: I'm mostly calm in my demeanor so I would say Drake.
NUC: You already have a lot of offers for a sophomore, how has the recruiting process been going?
RY: The recruiting process has been going well. Almost every college is interested in me. Also, there are a lot of colleges interested in my teammates as well.
I'm just thankful. I'm ahead of schedule. The schools that are looking at me aren't just offering anyone. They offer players with athletic ability, so I guess I'm doing well in that area.
NUC: Have any teams told you they are close to offering?
RY: I felt like I did well at the Miami camp and I'm waiting on them to get back to me. They said they are watching me closely.
NUC: Is every team recruiting you at linebacker?
RY: Yes, every team is recruiting me at various linebacker positions.
NUC: Which teams are showing the most interest at this point?
RY: At this point every team is on a medium level but I guess the schools that are really aggressive are Wake Forest, Clemson, Wisconsin, and Miami.
NUC: I know you are only a sophomore but do you have any favorites or top schools at this point?
RY: No sir, I am open minded. I am not going to make a decision early. I am willing to embrace anyone who takes the time to show me interest and show that they want me in their program.
NUC: What are some of the things you like about the schools that have offered you?
RY: For Wake Forest I am really impressed with their Business program and the fact that they recruited a lot of Florida guys. To me academics come first and I'm really into Business. So those are some of the things that stand out to me about Wake Forest. Since they recruit like 8 Florida kids a year, it won't be like I have nobody to relate to.
Wisconsin is really impressive because they were the first school to offer me. They never really drop from my mind because they keep in touch with me a lot. Their offer opened up a lot of doors for me and they weren't afraid to offer me even though I'm only a sophomore. I will always have respect for Wisconsin.
Miami is a childhood favorite of mine. It's a dream come true when you have a team like that who shows interest in you. It's a good feeling.
NUC: You mentioned you attended the Miami camp; do you have any more camps planned?
RY: I went to the Ohio St camp on the 22nd, and on June 30th I will be attending NUC Ultimate 100 sophomores camp. Shortly after that I may get on the road and visit Clemson.
