Grade: 2013
Position: Wide Receiver
Height/Weight: 6'2 190lbs
Hometown/HS: Easthampton, Massachusetts (Williston Northhampton School)
Strengths: Williams is a talented football prospect who gives you good size and the ability to catch the ball down the field. He is a physical presence at receiver as someone who enjoys run blocking and is not afraid to take on contact as he tries making the catch. Williams has a thick frame and good length on his body. He is a tough minded and doesn't mind doing the little things that matter to help his team win. Williams does a good job of breaking off the line and getting away from contact. He takes the contact and brushes it off quick as he continues into his route. Williams has outstanding hands and the hand eye coordination to catch just about everything thrown his way. He understands on how to use his body to put his defender on his backside and be able to shield him away from the ball. Williams could succeed as the outside receiver or line up in the slot and make plays that way. He is a smart ball player that knows what he must do as a receiver and he is also a strong leader both on and off field. Williams has great work ethic and the desire to become the best receiver he can be.
Weaknesses: Williams has a lot to like about his football talents but he is still a ways away from reaching his maximum potential. His first down fall might be is overall speed. Williams is not exceptionally slow but he is lacking in overall foot speed and the down the field sprinting skills needed in a homerun hitting receiver. He needs to find ways to become faster if he wants to become the player that is looked at as someone that can take it to the house at any moment. Williams doesn't play on the biggest of levels in high school football. The competition level that Williams plays with in the state of Massachusetts might not be the best or biggest players that you would like to be out on the field with. He looks like he could dominate his current football level but would defiantly need to work harder as he hopes to reach the college game. Williams also needs to learn to be more crisp on his routes. He can sometimes run too wide or stop the route short before the ball is ready to arrive. More time on the practice field should defiantly help in this area.
Overview: Williams is an underrated prospect that has received lite recruiting attention at this time but is hoping to change all that after a long summer of camps and visits to college campuses. He has yet to receive his first official offer but believes after strong showings this summer in camps that he could see his first offer finally arrive. So far Williams has received the most attention from Temple, UMass and Towson. He has had the most contact with Temple and coaches there seem to be interested into what Williams has to offer as a player. He has been able to take an unofficial visit to both UMass and Towson and he is in the works on setting up more visits for the future. Williams is in no rush to put an end to his recruitment. He wants to use all the time he has to find the best fit for is college endeavors and find the place that will allow him to succeed the most in football. Williams has great character and the work ethic you want as a college football player. He is a playmaker at receiver that is looking for chance to prove his talents and once given that chance he is sure to make the most out of his opportunities.
