ROBBINSVILLLE, N.J -- On Sunday, high school football prospects from across the Eastern Seaboard converged on Ro, La. as they sought to showcase their skills in the NUC Five-Star Showcase. NUC President and CEO Dave Schuman along with NUC National Recruiting Analyst Barry Every evaluated the top players at the camp at Robbinsville Field House as several players performed in hopes of improving their stock in the all-important recruiting process.
Less than 200 players were chosen for the event, where they took part in one-on-ones and various other drills, to be evaluated by the coaches. From the pool of players that participated, MVPs were chosen for each position, in addition to the one player who exemplified leadership among his peers.
Here is 41-50:
50a) Andrew Ashley of Good Counsel in Md. was the sixth ranked defensive back. The cornerback measured in at 5-6, 146 and is a great athlete with good speed. He closes on the football fast, he will be a top DB at the next level. He is in the Class of 2015 - great upside.
50b) Jordan Page of The Pennington School in NJ was the eighth ranked offensive lineman. At 6-3 ½, 293, he has great technique and a good punch. He must work on strength and aggressiveness, though.
49) Connor O'Shea of Great Bridge in Va. is a huge offensive lineman at 6-4 ½, 282. He is long, has a great punch and has an excellent kick slide.
48) Jordan Pagan of Holy Cross in N.Y. measured in at 6-1 ½, 293. He has nice feet and great toughness. He is best suited for guard or center at the next level.
47) Malik Scott of Largo High in Md. is a long wide receiver at 5-11 ½, 179. He is a good route runner with decent hands and good speed. He has good potential.
46) Ousmane Camara of Bay Shore in N.Y. is a huge linebacker with surprising athleticism at 6-0 ½, 257. A tough player, he will be a middle linebacker or defensive lineman at the next level.
45) John Quinlan of Howell in N.J. is a big QB at 6-3 ½, 204. He has quick feet and great balance. With his great drop, strong arm and excellent delivery, he will be a top QB at the next level.
44) Harry Lewis of Phoebus, Va. is still in the ninth grade but will be a big-time recruit. He measured in at 6-0 ½, 226. He has an excellent first step and is quite strong.
43) Darius Victor of Northwestern in Md. is a bulldozer of a running back at 5-6 ½, 213. This compact, bruising back has excellent speed and can do it all - a true playmaker out of the backfield.
42) Zachary Hume of Nashoba Regional in Mass. is a strong, athletic linebacker at 6-0 ½, 214. He is tough and possesses fantastic instincts.
41) Jordyn Bennett of Garnet Valley in Pa. is a scat back with great speed at 5-9, 148 ½. He is a fantastic athlete, may be better suited for defensive back at the next level.
