Special to SB Nation, courtesy of Dave Schuman of National Underclassmen.
Mar 21, 2012 - The NUC Five-Star Showcase made its tour stop in Baton Rouge over the weekend. Here are eight underclassmen who stood out.
1.George Moreira, John Curtis HS, LA Class of 2014, 5'9", 193
Moreira is thick, strong, and fast. He has great explosion in the drills for both straight ahead running and change of direction. His hands are fantastic and despite sitting behind two of the best running backs in Louisiana, he will get some share of carries this year and should become the feature and the next superstar back at John Curtis High School. Expect him to end up being one of the best backs in Louisiana soon.

2. Nick Brosette, University Lab, LA Class of 2015, 6'0", 203
Brosette burst onto the football scene at the NUC Baton Rouge as a seventh grader and has not looked back. When he was just in eight grade, he led University Lab in rushing and as a Freshman he led them with over 1000 yards rushing. Brosette is a physical presence at 210 pounds, but his amazing change of direction for a big back and smooth transition from lateral movement to vertical movement make him an exceptional player. He has fantastic catching ability for a back and knows how to utilize his body to make plays and keep himself in position. He was difficult to cover in 1-on-1's and was the recipient of the Underclassmen Award. And incredibly, he still has three remaining seasons of high school football.

3. Garrett Brumfield, University Lab, LA Class of 2014, 6'4", 259
Brumfield was the most impressive lineman at the camp. Just a sophomore, he matched up and won most the battles against elder defensive linemen. His fantastic athleticism for a lineman and great initial punch separates him from the pack. He is a fast learner and displays a unique ability to transfer immediate knowledge and learning into action on the field. With a fantastic body type and tremendous bend for a lineman, Brumfield is already establishing himself as a top lineman in his grade level and one of the best in the state of Louisiana.

4. Quentin Gibson, Archbishop Shaw, LA Class of 2014, 6'1", 156
This super sophomore has rocket of an arm and an amazing ability to place the ball where he wants it to go. His specialty is a fantastic and accurate long ball. He has excellent athleticism and a good drop. He must continue to improve his release and the speed of that release in order to become a top-echelon quarterback. Gibson displayed unique poise on all throws and all ranges of throws and has the potential to be one of the top quarterbacks in Louisiana.

5. Jacory Washington, Westlake, LA Class of 2014, 6'5", 207
A giant of a man at 6-5, 207, he moves extremely well and has a fantastic ability to adjust to his competition. When competing in 1-on-1's against bigger players he uses his speed and against smaller players he uses his size and wingspan, establishing himself as a dominant receiver. He is player with fantastic upside and can only continue to improve. He must work on his ability to change direction and improve his quickness, as this will help to make him a complete player.

6. Ty Storey, Charleston HS, AR Class of 2015, 6'3", 200
Very rarely does a freshman QB with size and a big-time arm come together to form a fantastic QB, but Storey has both. Storey displays great drop, a big arm, and the accuracy of quarterbacks two years his senior. I expect Storey to be one of the best QB's to come out of Arkansas in many years. He already looks the body of a college QB and will continue to improve in areas such as decision-making and identifying coverage, which will make him a superior QB

7. Sione Palelei, East Ascension, LA-Class of 2014, 5'9", 184
a fantastic athlete who simply makes everything look easy. After a fantastic season at East Ascension in his sophomore campaign, Palelei was quietly one of the best players in the showcase. He simply got open and made plays. In individual drills he was right up there with Brosette and Moreira in his ability to change direction and get vertical. Palelei also has excellent speed that makes getting vertical a a cinch. Look for his stock to rise dramatically over the next year.

8.Dejarvis Chambers, Wayne County HS, MS-Class of 2014 5"10", 165
Chambers has a unique ability to get open in all the short routes and also can get vertical fast and make plays on the deep ones. He catches everything, but must continue to improve and get crisper in his route running. He has good size for an underclassmen receiver and will continue to improve during his next two seasons.
