This event featured many of the top stars in the Louisiana and Mississippi areas. The event was led by many players that will end up with multiple D-1 offers. It also included a ton of fantastic underclassmen that have the potential to end up being top recruits in the Southeast region.
Top Five Juniors-Class of 2013
1. Brian Walker Jr. - Sulphur High, LA - 5-9.5, 170
Brian is one the best athletes I have ever seen on the combine/camp circuit. Last week at NUC Baton Rouge he blasted a 4.4 40 and a 36 inch vertical jump, he followed up that performance with an equally impressive outing at the showcase. Brian has amazing fluidity, athleticism and speed. In the individual period he displayed amazing speed and change of direction skills, he has the markings of Lamichael James type of back and has equal speed. In one on ones, he was not just uncoverable but made everything look easy. His route running was superior to the wide receivers. He displayed a fantastic ability to get open immediately and made everything look extremely easy. Part of a fantastic running back group that featured a minimum of five D-1 level backs he stood out among the pack. Yet to be heavily recruited due to some injuries in his junior year he has not received early offers yet, but after his last two weeks of performances I expect him to have a bunch of offers. If he can have a healthy senior season expect him to become one the most recruited backs in the Southeast.
2. Deon Mix - South Panola High School, MS - 6-4, 318
One of the most recruited lineman in the Southeast and the #2 rated player in Mississippi. Deon solidified his outstanding ranking with a fantastic showing. Every bit as big as advertised Deon displayed a fantastic ability to stay low in his stance and has an initial punch that is extremely explosive and stops immediate moving of the defensive player. A lineman that will continue to mature, he has an extremely wide frame and gigantic physical mass that will continue to improve. Expect Deon to be a 30 plus offer athlete. He displays a desire to get coached and a willingness to continue to learn. Deon has already been invited to play in the Semper Fidelis game and will continue to dominate for national power South Panola High School.
3. Kent Shelby - Archbishop Shaw, LA - 6-2, 176
Kent was in a tight battle among several receivers but his physical size and dominating play making ability earned him the WR MVP. He has a fantastic gift to be able to adjust to the ball no matter where it is placed. He made impossible long ball catches time and time again and made it look easy. He displays fantastic leaping ability and the ability to close on the ball with his fantastic closing speed. A tall receiver with very good physicality off the line, he is going to end up with a multitude of D-1 offers. His unique last second separation makes him a difference maker on the field.
4. Donovan McCray - McKinley Senior High, LA - 6-1.5, 257
This physical DE has the definite ability to stop the run and also get a fantastic pass rush. Very good get off and big frame, he displayed the ability in one on ones to win his share of battles with all world online Deon Mix. Very strong hands and trends us lower body frame allows him the power to have the motor to be a fantastic defensive lineman at BCS level.
5. Kris Weatherspoon - Natchez High School, MS - 6-1.5, 186
A true safety with outstanding cover skills, Kris won the DB MVP over some very good players. He has great pop on his initial punch at the line of a receiver and displayed great closing skill on a ver quick wide receiver group. He has very long arms and stays in the hip pocket of the wide receiver and uses his strong hands to reach through the receiver to break up passes.
