On a random Tuesday night DE/LB Ousmane Camara (Bay Shore HS, NY) decided to make his round of recruiting calls to coaches and returned a phone call to the Purdue Boilermakers hoping they might have liked the film he sent to them. Well that phone call lead to something that Camara never expected to happen. He received his first official offer from the Boilermakers on Tuesday night and he couldn't be more ecstatic about finally having an offer to play football in college.
"I honestly never expected to receive an offer from them but since I did I couldn't more excited about having an offer from a Big Ten conference program," said Camara. "All the coaches said they got together and watched my tape and all of them loved it so they decided they wanted to offer me. Purdue has a solid football program and somewhere I will defiantly take a serious look into."
Camara is a fast rising defensive prospect who stands 6'4 230lbs and has big time athleticism and a natural nose for the quarterback. He is a player that is beginning to make a name for himself around the Northeast region and is sure to see interest from college coach's rise as the year goes on.
Camara exudes potential and certainly has the look and frame of a college pass rusher. He looks good coming off the bus and punishes everyone in his path when he steps out onto the field. Camara has several strengths about his game that stand out and he thinks those particular talents will lead him into playing football on Saturdays in the fall.
"I am an aggressive and smart football player that gives his all and never backs down from no one," said Camara. "I try to model my game after Ray Lewis and play with a controlled, smart and aggressive nature that always seems to put me around the football. I have good speed and quick feet. I can get around the edge with either my speed or by using my hands to maneuver myself around the offensive lineman. I believe I could do well at either putting my hand on the ground from the defensive end position or play linebacker and continue my pass rush but also drop in coverage and make plays in the open field. I also like consider myself a highly intelligent football player who understands reading an offense and adjusting myself towards the ball."
Camara has seen his recruitment take its time as several schools have been interested but have yet to extend official offers. Purdue finally came through with Camara's first offer and that offer could lead to more schools coming through and offering him before he starts to blow up on the recruiting scene.
"I have been hearing from coaches for quite a while now but now I think I could be close to seeing the offers begin to pour in," said Camara. "I am headed to Temple this weekend for a camp with them and I am also planning to visit UConn here within the next couple of weeks. I have been talking a lot to Pittsburgh and Syracuse and I would like to visit them as well. I am not sure where my next offer will come from but I am willing to be patient and wait to see who all ends up becoming interested or offers me."
