"Football combines and statistical evaluations are virtually mandatory for players that want to be evaluated by colleges", said NUC CEO & President David Schuman. "It is great to see many talented athletes who may not have previously been recruited have an opportunity."
2009 divison1 bound standouts include Piscataway HS' Malcolm Griggs (University of New Hampshire) and Whitehall's Taray Carey (Whitehall). Both were stud athletes that had a good understanding of the game.
The underclassmen were nothing short of sensational as well, with multiple D1 letters expected to be signed in the near future. Talented prospects such as all time 40 yard dash record Holder Damiere Byrd (of Timber Creek HS who is fielding ten plus D1 offers), Long Branch's Miles Shuler (over ten offers), Kareem Jackson (Jonathan Dayton Regional) and Tariq Taylor (Alquippa) are expected to make their highly anticipated return this weekend.
"Last year's sophomore group was one of the best all of 2009", Schuman added. "These kids are only going to get bigger and better so it is exciting for me as an evaluators to see all that they can do."
All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions
Current 8th/9th graders will compete at 8 am and sophomores are to tap hit the field at 1 pm on Saturday, while juniors take center stage 1 pm this Sunday, April 25.
Athletes can sign up for the South Jersey/Philly combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.
