Athletes look to steal the show in the Steel City combine!

The city of Pittsburgh has long been infatuated with football. Throughout the sport's history at a professional level, the support of the Steelers is truly second to none. High school football is also a monstrous draw in this renowned region. Games regularly sell out while receiving recognition from noted publications, turning high school hooligans into front page sensations.
With far too many good players for an everyday Joe to keep track of, confusion regularly arises to who actually is the next big deal. Luckily for the fans and athletes, the National Underclassmen Combine will provide the opportunity to all 8-11th graders this weekend at Ringgold HS.
"In terms of a true appreciation of football and an interest in it at multiple levels, Pittsburgh is second to none" said David Schuman, NUC CEO & President. "People here eat, sleep and breathe football and that's why there are is such a deep talent pool."
One of those athletes was 2009 standout Myles Davis, who was far from singing the blues after earning a scholarship to Syracuse University. The 6'0 214 lb linebacker was a physical force on the football field and was one of the very best prospects in the Keystone State. Fellow NUC stars turned division 1 prospects include LaQuinn Stephens-Howling and Matt Heilig.
2010's rising seniors are expected to be back and better than ever. Those slated to stake their claim as potential top prospects include Luke Shaffer, Andy Borgen, Shaquille Washington (who ran the fastest shuttle in NUC history) and Maika Polamalu, who is related to you know who. Fabulous 09' freshman Vinnie Fusco is also likely to make a triumphant return to the field.
"This year's rising seniors look to be even better than ever before", Schuman stated emphatically. "Giving out the awards and sorting the top athletes is definitely going to be a tough task."
Current 8th/9th graders are slated to compete at 8 am and sophomores are scheduled to hit the field at 1 pm on Saturday, while juniors lay it all on the line 1 pm Sunday, April 25.
All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions.
Athletes can sign up for the Pittsburgh combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.
