The National Underclassmen Combine is set to host what looks to be a terrific combine this Saturday and Sunday at Columbus North High School. If preceding events give any type of prediction for what lays ahead, this weekend should be one to remember.Last year's combine produced multiple D1 bound athletes including Batesville's Connor Kelley (who will test his football skills and IQ this fall at Princeton), V.I.T.'s Michael Heitz (a giant 6'6 257 lb lineman that will play for Illinois), Valparaio's Nick Thompson (Drake) and Avon's Taje High (Indiana) among others.
Patrick Coyne (Badin), Jarren Scott (Laurence North), Shane Henderson (Columbus East), Derek Trepanier (Columbus North), Eric Price (Sheridan), and Tre Parmalee (Penn) were amongst the long list of elite underclassmen slated to make an emphatic return this weekend.
"Indianapolis is definitely amongst the best combines talent wise in the entire Midwest", said NUC CEO & President David Schuman. "The I guess it is convenient that we have one of our invite camps here and so many of the Indy combine athletes got invited."
Current 8th/9th graders are slated to compete at 8 am and sophomores are scheduled to hit the field at 1 pm on Saturday, while juniors take center stage 1 pm Sunday.
All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions. In addition to the elite athletes receiving coverage on Rivals and Espn.com, statistics of every participant will be sent out to colleges at all three levels.
