News and Notes from Duncanville Sophomore Session!

• Zack Sanchez (Keller Central HS) was the day's top performer, taking home the coveted Overall MVP award. The 5'10 152 lb Sanchez was a lock down safety and a first class ball hawk who made things uncomfortable for the offense during 1 on 1's. Sanchez displayed good leaping ability (9'2 broad jump) and quick feet, running a 4.36 shuttle and 4.47 40

• Jeffrey Thomas (Duncanville) and repeat elite performer Emilio Vera (North Crowley) shared the WR MVP. Thomas had a lanky 6'2 172 lb frame, an 8'11 broad jump and caught the ball at its highest point during 1 on 1's, ala Randy Moss. The 5'9 143 lb Vera ran smooth routes, had great awareness and made a number of impressive catches.

• When I tell you Desoto's top rated linebacker is the truth, I ain't lyin! Alex Lyons, 5'11.5 204, took home the LB MVP after putting up terrific numbers and starring during 1 on 1's. Dalton Santos (Van) shared the award with him and bench pressed 155 lbs 38 times. At 6'1 231, the possibility of Santos switching over to line becomes that much more realistic.

• Eric "The Hawk" Hawkins can almost literally fly across the field. The Longview HS WR ran a 4.57 shuttle and a jaw dropping 4.34 40 en route to winning the Fastest Man award. He also had a 32 inch vertical and 9'5 broad jump, making him a serious problem for d-backs.

• Darrick Harger (Charles Page) Donnovan McNabbed his way to the QB MVP. At 6'2.5 199, Harger had a cannon for an arm, a quick release and ran a 4.52 shuttle. With quick feet and a huge arm, Hager should be able to do something at the next level.
