Best of the 2010 NUC tour
MORE: Rivals.com Scouting the Nation 2010 | 2010 National Underclassmen Combine schedule
Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst Barry Every has scouted hundreds of prospects at National Underclassmen Combines in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and Jacksonville so far in the 2010 NUC tour.
Below is a look at the top prospects Every has seen at this year's events based on potential and performance at the event.
Players listed alphabetically.

NUC 2010 Top Performers: Rising Seniors
HT/WT/HS: 6-2/296, Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson
NUC Site: Atlanta, March 7, 2010
Performance: Earned strongest man while dominating during the one-on-one portion of the event. He has the size and strength to compete for playing time early in his career, and it doesn't hurt that he actually snaps under center and shotgun already.
Interest: Currently holds offers from Georgia Tech, Kentucky, MTSU, Ole Miss and UCF.

HT/WT/HS: 6-1/224, College Park (Ga.) North Clayton
NUC Site: Atlanta, March 7, 2010
Performance: Though disappointed with his 4.74 40, which is actually a very good time on FieldTurf for a big 'backer, Herrera demonstrated his physicality on more than one occasion. This prompted Coach Shuman to remind Herrera that this is a non-contact camp. Herrera will be able to play at around 245 pounds at the next level, giving him the size and strength to bounce around in traffic.
Interest: Committed to Georgia.
HT/WT/HS: 6-2/226, Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove
NUC Site: Jacksonville, February 28, 2010 and Atlanta, March 7, 2010
Performance: Won the Strongest Man Award in Jacksonville and linebacker MVP at the Atlanta event. Hunt-Days really stood out because of his ability to turn and run backs down. He also has a beautiful frame and could grow into a weakside defensive end.
Interest: Currently has an offer from Toledo, with strong interest from Georgia, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt.
HT/WT/HS: 6-0/198, Arlington (Texas) Sam Houston
NUC Site: Dallas, March 14, 2010
Performance: Dominated the smaller defensive backs with his sharp route running and outstanding body control. His efforts earned him Overall MVP in the camp. Jackson proved once again that you only get better by competing on a regular basis. It also doesn't hurt that by running track for the first time he has improved his 40 speed significantly.
Interest: Committed to Oklahoma.
HT/WT/HS: 6-5/260, Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines
NUC Site: Atlanta, March 7, 2010
Performance: Came into the camp with the mindset of a defensive end, and walked away with OL MVP honors. Jones demonstrated a tremendous attitude and willingness to improve his skill set on either side of the ball. This tall, lanky lineman has a frame that can easily hold 35 more pounds, making him a potential left offensive tackle.
Interest: Currently offers are from East Carolina and Illinois.
HT/WT/HS: 6-0/196, Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines
NUC Site: Jacksonville, February 28, 2010
Performance: Though he played safety all last season, his heart is still set at making an impact as a running back. Maxey ran away with overall MVP honors because he was nearly unstoppable catching passes out of the backfield. Though he wants to play on offense, his impressive body structure is screaming either strong safety or outside linebacker in my opinion.
Interest: Currently offers are from Duke and Illinois.
HT/WT/HS: 6-1/192, Griffin (Fla.)
NUC Site: Atlanta, March 7, 2010
Performance: Big safety was able to run a legit 4.6 40 on FieldTurf, while acting like a corner during one-on-ones. His ability to play physical and flip his hips earned him the DB MVP award. Moore was another participant that had to be asked not to be overly physical, and on top of that he possesses serious ball skills.
Interest: Committed to Georgia.
Other Top Performing Recruits:
Jared Boyd, CB, Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson (Atlanta NUC); Nick Brooks, CB, Humble (Texas) Atascocita (Houston NUC); Kentrell Brothers, ILB, Guthrie (Okla.) (Dallas NUC); Kadetrix Marcus, S, Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove (Atlanta NUC); Alfredo Morales, OG, Arlington (Texas) Sam Houston (Dallas NUC); Chris Terry, SDE, Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast (Jacksonville NUC); Zoey Williams, CB, Sugarland (Texas) Dulles (Houston NUC); Zach Witchett, WR, Atlanta (Ga.) Washington (Atlanta NUC).
NUC 2010 Top Performers: Underclassmen
HT/WT/HS: 5-11/190, Douglas (Ga.) Coffee (2012)
NUC Site: Jacksonville, February 28, 2010
Performance: Had some of the most impressive testing numbers for his age group that I have ever seen, posting a 4.5 40, 4.46 shuttle, 36-inch vertical and bench pressing 155 pounds 18 times. Clark is a hard worker with tremendous body structure allowing him to project as a RB, S or even an OLB.
Projection: Plays in one of the toughest regions in the state of Georgia 1-AAAAA. He already has one year of varsity football under his belt, and his academic standing will only increase the number of looks he gets from college coaches. Clark is a slam-dunk DI player.
HT/WT/HS: 5-11/175, Richardson (Texas) Berkner (2012)
NUC Site: Dallas, March 14, 2010
Performance: Flashed the quickest feet I have seen this year during agilities. But Gafford is just not quick and fast, he also possesses excellent body control and hands as soft as butter. He can project at several positions - RB, WR, CB or S.
Projection: Barring a serious injury there is little doubt about this prospect being a legit DI recruit. Some college coach is going to look at his skill set and make him a huge corner.
HT/WT/HS: 6-1/176, Katy (Texas) (2012)
NUC Site: Houston, February 21, 2010
Performance: Showed a quick release and a strong arm during individual work. But it was his ability to anticipate the receivers' breaks and make quick decisions that set him apart. Haack ended up winning a share of the QB MVP.
Projection: Haack has two big varsity starts under his belt already that being the Texas 5A State semifinals and state championship. If he continues to physically mature he could become one of the top signal callers in the state of Texas.
HT/WT/HS: 6-3/227, Hamilton (Ga.) Harris County (2012)
NUC Site: Atlanta, March 7, 2010
Performance: This 15-year-old also put up mind-boggling testing numbers, running a 4.67 40, 4.41 shuttle, 33-inch vertical and a 9-foot-4 broad jump. Jenkins was unstoppable coming of the edge going against kids his own age. This man-child would have dominated going against current seniors.
Projection: It is just a matter of weeks or even days before his offers start coming in. He is a true student athlete that is too physically gifted for colleges to pass on. He is a military brat and has lived all over the country so I do not think distance will be an issue.
HT/WT/HS: 6-0/204, DeSoto (Texas) (2012)
NUC Site: Dallas, March 14, 2010
Performance: Put up solid testing numbers running a 4.65 40 while jumping 31 inches in the vertical testing. But it was Lyons glove-like coverage on the running backs that would garner him LB MVP.
Projection: Not only was he the leading tackler on varsity last season he earned District Newcomer of the Year in a district loaded with athletes. He is another competitive, high-character kid that will load up on offers next year at this time.
HT/WT/HS: 5-11/160, Atlanta (Ga.) St. Pius X (2012)
NUC Site: Atlanta, March 7, 2010
Performance: I do not think there has been a defensive back that comes out of his backpedal quicker than Smith that I have seen at any age this year at the NUCs. He also possesses ideal height for a corner and ball skills. His efforts earned him DB MVP.
Projection: Competes in a region that has plenty of speed, so he will get his chances to show his cover skills. With most college coaches searching for taller corners Smith should see his stock grow immensely over the next year.
HT/WT/HS: 6-2/193, Missouri City (Texas) Elkins (2012)
NUC Site: Houston, February 21, 2010
Performance: Not only is he one of the most physically impressive prospects in the country, Thompson was able to put up really nice testing numbers. He ran a 4.6 40, 4.22 shuttle and had a 36-inch vertical. He is very smooth as an athlete and could project at one of three positions - WR, S, or OLB.
Projection: Thompson is not only a tremendous athlete but a high-character kid that happens to be a good student. Whatever position he ends up playing at the next level he will be successful. Expect him to be one of the top recruits the Houston area for 2012.
Other Top Performing Recruits:
Dane Evans, PQB, Sanger (Texas) (2012) (Dallas NUC); Derrick Green, RB, Richmond (Va.) Hermitage (2013) (Dallas NUC); J.J. Green, CB, Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County (2013) (Jacksonville NUC); Brice Ramsey, PQB, Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County (2013) (Jacksonville NUC); Shakeel Rashad, OLB, Jacksonville (Fla.) Episcopal (2012) (Jacksonville NUC); Zack Sanchez, CB, Keller (Texas) Central (2012) (Dallas NUC); Anthony Smith, DT, Houston (Texas) Westfield (2012) (Houston NUC); Cooper Woodyard, DQB, The Woodlands (Texas) (2012) (Houston NUC)
