NUC Alum-Michael German Q & A Committed to Tennessee Tech

Q & A with rising star Michael German

By Matt Yanofsky

Blanche Ely HS standout QB Michael German is days away from making one of the most difficult choices of his entire life; selecting a college. German, a standout at multiple NUC events, is currently fielding a number of offers from respectable schools and recently visited the University of Miami.

Matt Yanofsky: Hey Michael what’s going on? National Signing day is just one week away and you are about to make one of the biggest decisions of your life. You have received multiple offers. Tell us about the process and time that goes into making the choice.

Michael German: A lot of thought has gone into it and this has been a long time in the making. My parents were very involved and I am going to make (a lot of my decision based on) the school’s academics.

MY: Any exclusive sneak peek insight for us? (laughs)

MG: I am thinking about Tennessee State but I am not 100% sure. I will know in the next day or so.

MY: You recently finished your final season of HS football. Tell us about the highs and lows of your finale.

MG: Every time I touched the field I went out there going to do the best (I could). This year, I broke school and country records. I led the county in passing yards and touchdowns, en route to being named to the All County team.

MY: You achieved quite a lot for a 17 year old. From the Overall MVP at our Orlando combine to getting invited to the Ultimate 100 Camp, being named to Miami Herald’s First Team All County and winning Scion Broward County’s Player of the year, your accomplishments have outweighed football players many years your senior. How does it feel to have so many achievements?

MG: It feels good but this is just the start of a new beginning! Every year I am looking to do more and make the most of my ability.

MY: You were also invited to our inaugural Top Prospect Camp at the University Of Okalahoma. What was that like?

MG: It was a great experience to go out of town and compete against the best athletes at the camp. It was extremely competitive and one of the best camps I attended. Getting to watch some of the best quarterbacks in the country (gave me insight to) my strengths and weaknesses as a player.

MY: At 6’1 200 lbs, you have a terrific vision of the field and a tremendous IQ for a young QB. What kind of advice would you give to an aspiring QB looking to improve his overall skills?

MG: Your footwork and (ability to read) the defense are the biggest keys. If you aren’t aware of the coverage and where the blitz is coming from, you will never be successful, so make sure to study that. The timing of your release is also important.

MY: Who inspired you to play football?

MG: My father. When I was 4 or 5 years old, we started to play football around the house. He took me to the field after that and I really got into the sport from there after stepping onto the field for the first time as a youngster.

MY: We know you are still in the process of choosing a college. Does this mean you are also in the process of choosing a major like many rising freshman or do you know what you’d like to study?

MG: I am going to major in sports management or business. I would love to open my own training complex if I get a business degree.

MY: Where do you envision yourself five years from now?

MG: I envision myself as a second, third or fourth round NFL draft pick. Whoever drafts me and wants to pay works for me!

MY: Thanks for your time Michael best of luck.
