Inaugural Los Angeles Beat the Heat Combine set for this Weekend!

With demands at an all time high, The NUC hits Los Angeles' Cathedral HS for the second time in 2010. As high as the interest in combines are, the expectations that much bigger, with the first LA combine's athletes setting the bar sky high.

Kaiser HS sensation Dewayne Brown was the center a terrific junior session in February at Cathedral HS. Brown, the Overall MVP and Leadership Award winner, was a terrific wide receiver with great hands that ran great routes. During the 1 on 1's, the 5'8.5 150 lb Brown made some impressive gabs over bigger players, as his athleticism was first in class. Brown had a 31.5 inch vertical, 9'0 broad jump, ran a 4.35 shuttle, 4.56 40 and hustled from start to finish. With far too many star athletes full of themselves, hopefully players like Brown can show how to carry success humbly.

Adam Judnich (La Quinta) took home the Combine King award after showing he has Lebron James like athleticism. The 5'7.5 148 lb Judnich had a 35.5 inch vertical, 10'6 broad jump, ran a 4.41 shuttle and 4.42 40. Whether it is a football game or slam dunk contest, Judnich is pure excitement.

Blake Anderson (Don Lugo) battled with the d-linemen during the 1 on 1's and had great success in creating frustrations for his counterparts on the other side of the ball. The 5'9.5 242 lb Anderson was aggressive, strong as an ox (he bench pressed 185 lbs 36 times to take home the Strongest Man award), had quick hands and moved well. Anderson took home the OL MVP and captured plenty of attention as well.

In addition to the three aforementioned stars, Etiwanda's Chandler Scott (Soph Overall MVP), Ridgeview's Tyler Ferguson (QB MVP of the soph session) and Dionzna Blue (Frosh Overall MVP) all stamped their ticket to success just a few months ago at the very same high school the combine is slated for this weekend.

"It's a given that any time we go to the same city twice in one year that there are a number of terrific players there", said NUC CEO & President David Schuman. "We already have seen so many future elite D-1 level players and the second event is only going to add to the long list of stars in Los Angeles."

Current 8^th/9^th graders are slated to compete at 8 am and sophomore are scheduled to hit the field at 1 pm on Saturday, while juniors take center stage 1 pm this  Sunday, April 18.

All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions.
