Top Notch Underclassmen Come to Play in Mobile!

It was the first but certainly not the last combine at Mobile AL's Blount HS this past Saturday. The intensity level was high, there was no quit in any of these athletes and after five hours of intense football, a number of stars shined brighter than a summer afternoon in California.
Kyron Samuels (Fairhope) once again was the best player of his session winning the Sophomore Overall MVP and Strongest Man awards. A bulky 6'1.5 281 lb o-lineman, Samuels bench pressed 185 lbs 27 times, used his quick feet, overall skill and great strength to control the 1 on 1's every time he stepped up.
Jordan Huff of St. Paul's Episcopal HS was the leader of the freshman pack, wining the Overall MVP. The 5'10 177 lb half back had an 8'6 broad jump, ran a 4.31 shuttle, 4.53 40, bench pressed 135 lbs 31 times and was an absolute stud during 1 on 1's. Huff is both quick and strong, making him a serious threat every time the ball is in his hands.
George "Ronnie Coleman" Williams (UMS Wright Prep) is 5'10 190 lbs of sheer strength. From the renowned Samuel Harvill to Hunter Joyer, the NUC has seen a number of herculean players. But Williams incredibly topped both, breaking the all time bench press record by tossing up 135 lbs a ridiculous 77 times. Williams also jumped 8'10 on the broad with a 30.5 inch vertical. What an athlete!
Tyler Stargel (Gulf Shores) does exactly what coaches are looking for from a DL. He is a vocal leader, coachable, explosive, quick and focused. The 6'3.5 225 lb Stargel had an 8'8 broad jump, ran a 4.38 shuttle and really stood out during the 1 on 1's en route to winning the much deserved DL MVP and Leadership awards.
Travis "The Tank" Lockhart (Blount) is 6'5 300 lbs; enough said! The giant sophomore won the OL MVP after literally looking like a man amongst boys during the 1 on 1's.
Matt Hall (Spanish Fort) showed tremendous promise. The 5'11.5 171 lb standout has a great attitude, works hard, displayed a strong arm and bench pressed 135 lbs 23 times. In winning the QB MVP and Leadership awards, Hall is worth keeping an eye on.
Zachary Cresse (Fort Walton Beach), Jamaal Doton (Blount) and Jared Holloway (St. Paul's Episcopal) were all standouts amongst the freshman. a terrific trio indeed.
Mobile has some terrific talent; the 2011 combine should be just that much more interesting!
