National Underclassmen football combines come to honolulu hawaii

The NUC: Hitting the Island in ‘10

By Matt Yanofsky

2010 marks the start of the next decade and the dawning of a new era for the National Underclassmen Combine at www.nationalunderclassmen.com.

Athletes are going to face more stringent competition than in previous years. Coaches will be instructed work players unlike ever before, greatly broadening the horizons. Literally.

For the first time in its six-year history, the NUC ventures to the Aloha State, providing coaches the opportunity to temporarily abandon their winter coats at the New Jersey headquarters in lieu of shorts and a t-shirt in sunny Hawaii.

Dubbed as the “Island Combine”, the inaugural Hawaii event is slated for February 21 and takes place at beautiful Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. All athletes will partake in pro-style combine testing, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, bench press, vertical leap, and shuttle run along with position specific drills, 1 on 1’s and 3 on 3 competitions.

The 8th-9th grade session starts at 8 am, while the sophomores and juniors grind it out on the gridiron at 1 pm sharp. With a never before seen group of players slated to participate in the upcoming combine, NUC CEO and President David Schuman is excited to see what Hawaii has to offer.

“Our Hawaii camp is going to be a phenomenal experience not only for the athletes, but for the coaches as well”, exclaimed Schuman. “Many of the players haven’t received proper recruiting exposure due to lack of opportunities since Hawaii is not part of the Continental US, making it difficult for them to attend events elsewhere.”

“I am excited to help guide players in Hawaii and hopefully we can help discover and develop the next Peyton Manning, Brian Urlacher or Randy Moss”.

Athletes can sign up for the Hawaii combine on www.nationalunderclassmen.com or call 1-888-NUC-MVP1 for more details.

Top Prospect Alert: Terrick Wright, Gasden HS, Alabama, DE/OLB, Class of 2011

Strengths:
 -amazing athleticism
-tremendous speed
-top notch ball skills
-acceleration to the ball and the ability to redirect is big time

Stuff to Work on:
-gaining some more size

Final Analysis:
Very much like demopolis' Martaze Jackson (who had 10 d-1 offers), Terrick has speed athleticism, burst and ball skills that dominate the high school level. He will also have the unique ability to be a top rush OLB or Speed DE. If he puts on some more muscle mass he will be one of the biggest suprises of the recruiting season.
