In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his immeasurable and selfless contributions to the Civil Rights Movement and the United States and the world, we reflect on The Dream as we ask some of 2011 top recruits and tomorrow's leaders, the following questions:

1. If Dr. King was alive today, what would he think of today's Black athletes?
2. How are you living The Dream?

MICHAEL EUBANK -QB, Corona, CA, Arizona State Commit

"I think he'd be very happy there are more Black athletes being accepted than when he was here. I think he'd be very pleased about that."

..."I'm living the dream by having the opportunity to go to school with white people and not worry about getting beat up for being Black. I'm living the dream because I'm able to do what am doing because of what he did."

DAMIERE BYRD - WR, Sicklerville, NJ, South Carolina Commit
"I think that if Dr. King was alive he would be a little disappointed with our Black athletes today. I mean it seems like every time you turn around, somebody's on ESPN's breaking news for getting in trouble with the law. The NFL, the NBA, everybody's getting hit with DUI's, assault carrying guns. Everything Dr. King fought against."

"I'm living the Dream by just taking everyday one step at a time, day by day and enjoying every moment of life because it can be taken away at any moment."

DEANDRE WASHINGTON - Athlete, Missouri City, TX, Texas Tech Commit

"I feel he would be very proud."

..."I'm living The Dream by taking each day as a blessing and striving hard to be successful."

JAMES ADEYANJU - DE, Chicago, IL, Wisconsin Commit

"Some athletes make it more about themselves. Dr. King was about helping the community. I think he'd be happy for them, but I think he'd want them to make it less about themselves and be more citizens and help the community. We're really lucky we are able to do the things we are today."

"I'm living the dream by being able to hopefully get a college education being in a world where I can succeed no matter what; be a good man to myself and my family."

KJ BRENT - WR, Waxhaw, NC, South Carolina Commit

"I don't know if he would be happy with a lot of the athletes. But there are a lot of athletes that represent the black population well and portray themselves as "good people". I think he would be proud of those certain athletes that with all of the spotlight they can still have their head on straight.

"I am living The Dream by being myself and knowing everyday where I came from and why I'm here. I'm here for a purpose, and everyone has got a dream just like he did. I want to live up to my dream."

QUENTIN GAUSE - LB, Rochester, NJ, Rutgers Commit

"If he was alive, he would be so proud of how our society has changed and how African American athletes and other athletes from different cultures have been able to participate in sports and excel in them."

"Everyday, I thank God for giving me the opportunity to live the dream and put me on a path for success. I work hard everyday just taking every opportunity that is put in front of me and making the best out of it. I also thank all the different cultures and groups that fought to get their equal rights (14 Amendment). Their hard work has given me and many other athletes the window of opportunity."

"What is the Window of Opportunity? It's the door that transitions you to position yourself to benefits beyond whatever the norm is in your life, but with it comes great accountability, responsibility, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. These things come each time an opportunity has been challenged by you, and you find a way to overcome whatever the challenge may be. This is when growth occurs! Don't be afraid to grow! We all have a lot more growing to do inside and out! God created all of us to succeed; failure is something that has been adopted by us!

Don't get it twisted; if you think that you were put on this earth just to fail, than you have not found your calling yet, and the thing you're failing at is not something he wants you to do anyway. He put us here, because we are leaders! And leaders possess the skills to know how to handle and overcome various adversities and hardships in life. Many people do not even know what they have inside of them because instead of challenging themselves, they sit back and react to whatever happens."
